Is this the best news Australia could get from America?

The wonderfully talented Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is offering to distance America from Australia over the Chinese One Belt one road program. Please Mike, bring it on. And F**k off with a rude letter to follow. There has never been a deal for Australia come out of America that America did not benefit from. And our govt was usually the first to back the US half @$$ed adventures into south east asia and the middle east, buy your useless fighter aircraft or give you special deals for you big corporates to set up branch offices that paid bugger all tax here.
So I hope for once he actually carries it through. I would be happy to see the back of Mcdonalds and Subway. And dont get me started on Seinfeld and Friends.
(But please... You can keep Rupert Murdoch. We dont want him back)

Actually, as a fellow Aussie, I disagree at least partially with this view.

The state of Victoria would do better to eliminate the Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei from its network planning. Our ASIO intelligence and DEFAT (Dept x Foreign Affairs & Trade) already have proof that Huawei embeds spyware programming in all it's technologies. Europe realised it years ago, Britain has just announced it has proof and is kicking Wha Wei out. Given the overwhelming proof of Huawei's behaviours, Victoria has been nothing but foolish in even considering doing business with it.

The US has the right to choose to severe a connection which Wha Wei could use as a backdoor route to spying within the US.

I do agree that the US always comes off by far the better in any deal with us. Unfortunately that's because we have only 1/50th the population and nowhere near the wealth or power. Our geographic position is our only bargaining chip. We are useful to the US - but we'd be naïve if we believed they really would come to our rescue if we needed them. It would never happen unless the "help" directly benefited US interests.
And it wouldn't matter which party was in power.

@hartfire No sweat. I used to have a Huawei phone myself, and while it was excellent hardware, the software showed a lot of signs of foul play. So, yeah. I completely believe the allegations of spyware.
@hartfire And how did it benefit the US when Trump stopped N.Korea from firing rockets over Japan?
@thedarkside Can't see the relevance of this question. I must be missing some crucial information.

Ah, Mike Pompeo. Yet another warmongering shitball and partner of Elliott Abrams in the disaster that was the "humanitarian aid" sent to Nicaragua.
Pompao knows everyone in Canberra draws a CCP paycheque..

And what ever downer , bishop, Turnbull and schomo did during the election..

Do not blame America one iota..
