President Trump.

He has said stupid things.

But, given that of the known cases, the world average is 6% deaths of total known cases and some countries, in Europe especially, are showing death rates much higher - some over 13% - I will say he is handling it clumsily, but all in all, better than many.

@Mamapolo2016 Better than many? We have the highest number of cases in the entire world and it's not even close, we have twice as many deaths as the next highest country and fewer recovered, and we're still climbing fast.

@Pavona I think you can expect those hot spote to crrep west over time. To stop them reaching the west as a second wave those states are goung to have to keep the pressure on
@BlueMetalChick We also have a much bigger population than most. The death rate for known cases as of this moment is 6% in the US.

Yes, more deaths. Yes, more cases. More people.

In Spain, death rate of known cases, 10.4%

Italy, 13%

UK, 13.2%

France, 13%

@Mamapolo2016 All of those countries you named have fewer confirmed cases, fewer deaths, and more recovered. All of those countries have both fewer confirmed cases and fewer deaths per capita. Their infection rates, and their death rates, as a percentage are far lower than that of the USA.
@Mamapolo2016 Also the double digit mortality rate only set in in other nations after their hospitals were completely overwhelmed which would happen anywhere in such a scenario and the evidence suggests the only reason why that hasn't been seen in the US is because the system hasn't been completely overwhelmed yet and the numbers suggest that is only a matter of time.

@Mamapolo2016 It depedns on each EU country too as we the UK it is ONLY deaths in Hospitals were as in France, Germany, Spain, Italy they all inclde Nursing homes, Care homes,,etc.

I know for the UK IF the Government included ALL other deathes it would be closer to 25,000 not 16,500.
@Pavona I don't think I said he was handling it brilliantly. He's not.

But I don't understand your claim that the US has the highest death rate. More deaths per day, perhaps, but again, more people.

US known cases, 752,759. Deaths, 42,514. Horrible. without question. But 5% death rate.

12 countries have higher death rates per million than the US.

Every death is a tragedy.
@Mamapolo2016 Personally - I dont know why we are making this a political thing - its a health matter that has been addressed - The State's Governors are now the ones that give the order to county health officials...
@Mamapolo2016 The thing is though places like Italy also had death rates of 4 or 5% until the ICU beds got overwhelmed. Then it jumped to double digits which is to be expected.

The only difference between the two nations right now is time.
@milkymum1 It's all a mess, and I don't think many have handled it well and we won't really know for a long time. But the current statistics show it's bad almost everywhere, and where it isn't yet, it's getting worse.

Stay safe.
@MarmeeMarch It becomes a political issue when the person who is supposed to be in charge ignores plans in place from the 60s and actively gets in the way of the experts and appoints friends and family instead of competent experts and makes it into the Donald Trump show.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@MarmeeMarch I can't speak for anyone else but personally the reason I make it into something pseudo political is because it's hard not to be frustrated when you see your own nation suffering more than is necessary. I know it doesn't do anything to rail about it but it's nigh impossible not to want to.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Like I said friend - you are one percentage point behind us - dont make this a race.
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I agree we should stay locked down. My state was one that ignored Trump and locked down early. We are safer. Was it the right thing? I guess we'll see eventually.
@Mamapolo2016 My advise would be to follow advice from medical experts from countries that are doing a good job and completely ignoring the dog and pony show in Washington.

@MarmeeMarch Well I'm sure trying but it's difficult to do much since most activism relies on membership. And seeing as how I'm a convicted felon, my options are limited.
@BlueMetalChick 🤷‍♂️

@MarmeeMarch Then again I guess I could just use a fake identity. It's not like I haven't before.

@MarmeeMarch People tend to get upset when they are gas-lighted while staring the person right in the eyes and saying "stop gas-lighting me". 🤷‍♂️

@BlueMetalChick Fake identities are reserved for the sole use of Republicans committing voter fraud. I'm sorry but you may not do that.
@Elegy you mean SOLE ?

@MarmeeMarch Hmm, lover?
@Pavona Keep in mind the density of people that live in the East esp.
