Why not take the High Road?

I'm not alleging who started the tiff between Trump and Pelosi last night, but both are responsible for not respecting the venue of the State of the Union, by not relating or omitting comments that are a part of the formalities; showing disrespect the Speaker of the House by as I've read (didn't see the speech) in news items, turned his back, refused to shake her hand, and then the public ripping up of the speech. Both IMO failed to show and display any decorum for this national event, by their actions. Shameful!

This is 2020. Human rights are dead; to Hell with decorum.
@BlueVeins It's not about human rights. It's about a sense of common decency and protocol. Yes, they've been at each other, but their actions are an embarrassment!

Fuck taking the high road. It gets you nowhere, in a “I can shoot someone, in broad daylight, on 5th Ave, and get away with it”, Trump world.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Northwest what exactly does it explain?

And how have I twisted what you said? You think tearing up a speech on national television is the same as standing up for oneself?

@JoeyFoxx
And how have I twisted what you said?
Let me count the ways:
Here's the thing, as soon as you characterize an entire group with a single brush stroke, you have lost.
Not what I'm arguing
I know plenty of folks who believe firmly in what Trump is doing that would never have any part of those shenanigans.
Not what I'm arguing
I think it's downright laughable that the Democratic party, the party that believes it knows better and represents the rights and freedoms of people everywhere couldn't produce a candidate that could beat someone who couldn't identify the Bill of Rights on a bet.
Not what I'm arguing, not to mention how insulting you are to most of the Democratic candidates.
But responding to strength with strength is a Mike Pompeo approach. Y'know, the guy who's skirt got ruffled by an NPR reporter armed with actual facts.
Not what I'm arguing.
So, by all means, lets have public temper tantrums.
Not what I'm arguing, and that's where you really twist what I said, specifically with the temper tantrums reference.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
@Northwest Well, I'm out then.

I insulted no Democrats. They lost. The DNC intentionally undermined the only truly viable candidate that could have beaten Trump (yes... I voted for Bernie in the primary).

I never intended to make this an ad hominem attack on you or any of the candidates, but it seems you want to interpret it that way. There's no way that I can twist "fuck taking the high road" into anything other than what you intended.

So, I am gracefully bowing out.

You win.
When he was touting how much money HE gave to the Military describing the weapons and the camera focused on the Military brass, they looked pretty grim, they didn't stand up and salute and thank him.
He had diverted money from the Military budget, (previously allocated by a Bipartisan Congress), to build HIS wall, (there is a plaque with HIS name on it), HIS "Big, Beautiful, Indestructible, (someone cut a piece out of it to enter through), No one can climb over it, (we saw videos of young people climbing over it)." "I can do anything I want", and he will do it again !
"Socialism destroys countries" "I will protect your Social Security." 🤔
@softspokenman Those military guys looked extra stiff this time around.

They were both being childish and both showed a lack of decency and decorum.

Counterpoint: all this shit was already tremendously boring, at least this is good for dramacoin.
It was not a great night for decorum, but I was actually surprised it went as well as it did, given the fundamental differences that have now been exposed.

Things are likely to get even uglier soon.
@soar2newhighs I wish it wouldn't, but I think the fight will move on to Bolton next, and I doubt that's going to be civilized.
@MistyCee That may happen, but what took place last night, regardless of one's political party backing and support, it was a national venue that was insulted as were those in attendance by the behaviors of two figures who should have had the decency to as I said, take the high road. If they're at each other's throats as politicians often are, there's a time and place for it, but not at The State of The Union.
@soar2newhighs I hear you, but the State is pretty ununified despite what the speech said.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Agreed. 100%
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
Really, every American should do their patriotic duty and ignore the shit out of the sotu. What a tremendous waste of time.
