What the hell are they thinking in California?

A new bill that caps freelance submissions may make writing financially unsustainable for many workers even though the legislator behind the law insists that the goal is "to create new good jobs and a livable, sustainable wage job."

[@883726,Master5dad] As if I would divulge my personal activities to the likes of you and your ilk? it is to laugh. You're not "above it all" or a "good person". You're a lying, disingenuous piece of shit with no redeeming qualities, exactly like the person who started this comment thread.

It's like you people don't understand that we're not as stupid as you.
I don't know I've got you talking here for a few hours while I'm at the library so that's kinda funny [@773866,daisymay]

It's a good example of good intentions turning into really fucking bad legislation.

The idea is to stop companies from ripping people off by giving them fulltime work but paying/treating them like contractors with no benefits or job security. Good idea.

The problem is they didn't include TONS of different kinds of jobs, particularly freelance writing, which has people churn out tons of easy to write content. So their cap is something someone can blow through in a month.
You're starting to bore me I need you to give me a point you obviously think it's bad that these companies use freelancers.[@9416,Northwest]

Nothing obvious about it.

Taking a closer look at the gig economy situation is a good idea, but sounds like they goofed on this aspect.
