What the hell are they thinking in California?

A new bill that caps freelance submissions may make writing financially unsustainable for many workers even though the legislator behind the law insists that the goal is "to create new good jobs and a livable, sustainable wage job."

They THINK in California?
When did that start?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick Becoming the economic powerhouse of the US required no brains at all 🤷‍♂️

@QuixoticSoul California is like having a pretty mistress.
But, the bitch is getting old, she let's any one in, is carrying untold diseases, takes no action to prevent the preventable disasters, fast becoming a pain in the ass liability.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick A better analogy would be a sugar daddy tbh 🤷‍♂️ - one you can't pay the bills without.
@Budwick I think CA has no choice 6.3 of the population from 2018 is illegal aliens -

@MarmeeMarch Yes, about the same proportion as Texas.

How many of them are freelance writers?
Actually with all the social programs and the homelessness I think California is actually struggling financially. I understand that it has a lot of resources and all of the large online companies are there but they spend more on social programs than almost any other state. Just because you look rich doesn't mean you are.

@Master5dad California is not struggling financially. We are running a healthy surplus. We are also one of the handful of donor states that pays in more than it takes from the feds.

It would be bizarre if we didn't spend more on social programs than almost any other state, because we're by far the biggest state.
why do you have so many homeless people?@QuixoticSoul
@Master5dad Because BUMS know that liberal San Francisco as an example wont touch them - they wont help them either. That's why you see them sleeping in gutters.
Ok cool but I want to honestly know quixotics view on why @MarmeeMarch
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Master5dad What do the homeless have to do with the state’s financial power or the robustness of its industry? This is capitalism in action 🤷‍♂️

The main reason for California’s homeless (who aren’t mentally ill drug addicts, those are a special category) is the housing crunch combined with wealth inequality. The people who have money are squeezing out the ones who don’t, and there are enough of them that “what the market can bear” is quite high indeed. On the other side of things you have property owners digging their heels in trying to keep their housing values high, and developers wondering why they should be building affordable housing when market rate pays so much better.

Basically capitalism with no safety rail.
I'm not talking about that anymore I just wanted to know what your thoughts where on the homeless issue, and how you think it should be solved. @QuixoticSoul

WOW - they got you programmed well!
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Budwick No Budgie, I just know more than you - and because we still remember how to make money here, my state is keeping the lights on for yours.
Wow are you serious right now?@QuixoticSoul

Among other things. It seems as if the Trumpsters, following his lead, hate everything about California, and believe it's a dump, especially San Francisco. Nothing in their models, explains why San Francisco real estate is among the highest, in the nation, and certainly more than wherever they live.

Income inequality is an issue that needs to be dealt with, but that's a different discussion
At least my state doesn't have an entire department just for cleaning human shit off the street and an app with a map I need to avoid it with. Oh yeah and the plague and other diseases that are coming back. You can keep your state money you obviously need it more than us besides more people are moving from California than anywhere else .@Northwest]

@Master5dad I am wondering if you thought this one through, while creating content on a computing device, designed in California.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Master5dad California has an entire department for cleaning poop off the streets? 🤔
Yeah ok so you need to know that the idea of technology isn't an idea that can only come from California I know it's shocking but it's true. It's just an idea unless it built and where's that done at? Oh yeah not California. Your states not that great sorry to tell your@Northwest

@QuixoticSoul This is what happens, when you think the Trump propaganda machine is for real.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Master5dad
It's just an idea unless it built and where's that done at? Oh yeah not California.
Yes, we outsource the shit jobs, it’s more efficient this way. Because capitalism 🤷‍♂️

Meanwhile the knowledge and technical knowhow stays in-state. That’s where the real value is. Oh, and the money, too.
Northwest · M
@Master5dad I am not talking about the "idea" of technology. I am being very specific, and literal.

One of the following cases apply:

1. you're using a smartphone. It's either an iPhone (Apple) or an Android OS (Google). Both are California companies.

2. You're using a desktop. In this case, the CPU comes from Intel or AMD, both California companies.

3 You're using Chrome OS. In this case, the OS comes from Google (a California company).

4. You're using an Android tablet, the OS comes from Google (a California company).

Your irrational hate of California, is noted. I don't live in California, BTW. I was educated in California though, in a public institution, that was, and remains, one of the top 3 in the world in a wide range of fields.
Yeah so we don't need it so you can keep it I'd rather go to Alabama before California. But people can go to any state and start a tech company if you ask me Seattle is a bigger contributor than California @QuixoticSoul
🤔 I think my phone is huwei ? Oh yep it is @Northwest
