Rules? What rules?

The sad thing is, Pence claims to have visited the island throughout his childhood, which is going to make his claims of ignorance sound pretty hollow.

As a well-known vacation spot in Michigan, Mackinac Island is known for its fudge, historic sites, and lack of cars.

On Saturday, though, US Vice President Mike Pence traveled through the island in a motorcade, igniting controversy.

Pence's mode of transportation was quickly condemned by many critics as disrespectful.

"For those not from MI, you should understand what a huge transgression this is," Michigan native and onetime Michigan State Senate candidate Julia Pulver tweeted.

Rules don't apply to the Trump Administration. What on earth did Pence have to go to Mackinac Island for anyway? Some fudge?

@windinhishair there's plenty of fudge in White House

Trump's margin in Michigan, was 10,740 votes, or 0.23% of the votes cast. It doesn't take much to flip it.

Roll on the rapture! 🤦‍♀️

The Secret Service makes the call on stuff like that. Only one incumbent President has ever been there, and security has become much tighter since then. With all the threats our leaders get, it is understandable.

@SW-User You're showing a lack of how government and security work. But you're NOT pretending.
The people who organized the event invited him. They made that decision. Nobody is asking them why they decided to have it there. Perhaps they should. But in the era of lazy journalism, that won't happen.
You don't like Pence. Fine. Matters not to me. If this had been a politician you like, you'd have given him or her a pass, and you know it.
@BarefootedBoy Never mind. Obviously he doesn’t really care about the wishes of the people there, which was the point.

@BarefootedBoy listen, boy, I would be making the same argument if Biden was in a car on Mackinaw island.

Ever been there? I have.

So... by your logic: if I invite the VP to my kid’s birthday party, he has to go?
