How much longer before Hong Kong is decimated?

Hong Kong Police call for permission to use live ammunition on protesters.
They said that responding with rubber and beanbag bullets, water cannon and tear gas has not be enough to deter protesters.
"Rioters are throwing Petrol bombs. Our lives are in danger"
The Hong Kong Human Rights Monitor group said,
"Any escalation in the use of force by police would likely be matched by a similar escalation in the use of force by demonstrators."

when it happened, I thought, no way the ChiCom govt will let these people be, even tho they are such a fiscal powerhouse.
