How much longer before Hong Kong is decimated?

Hong Kong Police call for permission to use live ammunition on protesters.
They said that responding with rubber and beanbag bullets, water cannon and tear gas has not be enough to deter protesters.
"Rioters are throwing Petrol bombs. Our lives are in danger"
The Hong Kong Human Rights Monitor group said,
"Any escalation in the use of force by police would likely be matched by a similar escalation in the use of force by demonstrators."

I recall the "handover" and the treaty of it.
when it happened, I thought, no way the ChiCom govt will let these people be, even tho they are such a fiscal powerhouse.

Authoritarian Systems, will not abide truculence, even from the most profitable efforts
@Gusman and it will NOT be televised

@SatyrService Might not be able to stop it being posted on line. Many more camera phones now than 20 years ago.
Unless they shut down access to the internet
Hundreds of journalists.
Drone cameras?
@Gusman yes, it would be an imperfect embargo to be sure.
they may understand this, from earllier experience and have to be a bit soft when in view

They're doing all these riots but theyre not setting up a new government or changing the system. Purposeless riots at this point. If they keep going they're going to get it.

@SW-User It is not purposeless to fight for freedoms most of the world enjoy.
Once peace is restored, talks can begin

@SW-User it has been suggested that perhaps these 'demonstrators' may actually be from China. To deliberately destabilize the government.
Think there may be any truth to that suggestion ?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Picklebobble2 Its more likely that there are small groups of Chinese "plants" doing things likr raising American flags to point up "foreign interference" and cause damage to be inconvenient to the masses. to sway public opinion. The Chinese play the long game. They will wait until after the mainland October celebrations are done before they act harshly
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
I was saying to someone the other night, how long before the Chinese government sends troops in overnight to ensure martial law ?

This isn't going to end well.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 Not going to be allowed to go on non stop.
Activities can only escalate.
Oh my God, some common sense. Unlike the US where they give police forces military equipment and tell them they have to use it or it will be taken away. "OK, we'll just shoot some Black kid."
