I'm fine with the ban. We don't need the same bs we've gone through with tobacco.

E-cigs are no different from regular cigs. Both kill but people should be free to destroy themselves.
No ban.

@QuixoticSoul Pull, reexamine, fix. Vaping is considered "healthier" than cigs. At least, that's what health experts, not me, have been saying.
I don't believe in a ban. I honestly hate bans. But, bad press can always bring out a better product.
Cigs either way kill people. Just because it takes longer on most, doesn't mean it's any less horrible.

@SW-User Yes, everyone thought vaping was healthier than cigs. Until 19 year olds started suddenly ending up in the ICU with no prior symptoms, and nobody knows why.
Keeping unsafe products off the market is exactly why we have the FDA.

@QuixoticSoul FDA kind of drops a lot of balls. They ban things that have no reason to be banned and allow things like this.
I mean, I honestly don't see vaping going anywhere. Just remodeled.

Its conflicting. I vaped when I quit smoking.
People dying from it is a big deal. But what about all the people that die from smoking ciggarettes. 6 is tiny in comparison.
But on the other hand tobacco smoking is an ANCIENT practice. Vaping is new and doesnt have to turn into that. It is so widely practiced now though. So many people do it.
Idk it's a tough one

@lulaluboo Didn't they ban a lot of the flavored cigarettes and cigars?
Six is tiny in comparison. But vaping is barely even into its infancy compared to cigarettes.

@SooperSarah yeah that's what I said. It could almost be stopped before it goes too far.
But is it already too late? Its hugely popular. I large amount of young people do it. Its engrained into modern culture.
Idk if they banned any yet tbh

@lulaluboo It's pretty aggressive tbh. People die from smoking all the time, but it's generally accumulated decades worth of a lifestyle choice - rather different from something so acute that comes on relatively quickly and nabs the young and the healthy. I can see why the feds are treating these situations differently - they're very different sort of health risks.

I think it was awfully convenient that they responded and pushed for a ban so quickly.

Like QuixoticSoul said, vaping is relatively new, targeted towards kids and has instanteous unpredictable health risks unlike smoking's which develop over yeeeears. It doesn't seem much to people right now but it could've turned very ugly in the future once it becomes the norm like guns and would've been harder to stop.

I think that it's kind of a massive step for 6 people dying, to be honest. Makes me wonder why they don't react as quickly to people dying from gun violence. But, you know, I guess it's just a story to push to make it feel like stuff is actually being accomplished.
How long has vaping been around and 7 or 8 people have died? How about the 1,000 or more people in the U.S. who die everyday from smoking cigarettes? You think kids won't turn to cigarettes if you take away their vape?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Shutup It takes decades to get there with smoking. These kinds of sudden acute respiratory issues demonstrate that we don't quite have the risks associated with vaping figured out. FDA is being reasonably prudent here.
My understanding of that story is that the majority of those becoming ill were using both flavorings and THC products purchased off the street.
My view: I am leaning towards it being Government over-reach....

They still haven't made the connection...just that some people who smoked e-cigs also died of a lung problems. It's total political BS.
Budwick · 70-79, M
6 people dying from lung complications
Some had complications before vaping.
Over reaction IMO.
Seeking more control IMO.
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
Let them commit slow suicide if they choose. Just keep them away from me and my lungs.
SW-User
If they're proven to cause damage why promote them?
SW-User
Unban them, if I want to die that way let me
MissTaken · 36-40, F
As a non smoker banning wouldn’t bother me
FreestyleArt · 31-35, M
Honestly who cares. I'm sure Governor Newton thinks it's more serious than bringing illegals along with criminals in California
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@FreestyleArt What does an FDA ban have to do with Newsom again?
SW-User
Hmm.. Never tried it before. Does it less smell compared to cigarette?

@RamessesII I’m not worried. I’m just saying flavored e-cigs shouldn’t be banned.
