The argument against stuff like this is that you need to insure a car and take a test.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@graywanderer And of course there are no gun laws in the United States
Graylight · 51-55, F
@sunsporter1649 Precious few. Many states have zero locensure, zero registrstion, zero training. An 18 year old can buy a rifle with no knowledge of how to use it and no record in any database.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Graylight And a 16 year old can buy a car and go around driving wherever they feel like
graywanderer · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 interestingly enough... disgruntled teens aren’t driving into school parking lots killing friends.

Maybe it is all video games and movies?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@graywanderer Killing 50,000 people a year is ok with you then
graywanderer · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 accidents happen. That is why there is insurance.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@sunsporter1649 Tired, stupid argument.

A car has a helpful and benign primary purpose. A firearm is built to destroy.

You can voice the argument as many times as you like, but it doesn't change.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Graylight So being comfortable with 50,000 deaths a year makes it ok then
graywanderer · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 yes. Because of its utility and the 50000 is such a small percentage.

If you also noticed, cars are becoming more advanced in terms of safety.

Guns have just become more deadly.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@graywanderer As someone who lives in, say, Alaska, if firearms are a necessary form of protection for themselves, their families, and their property.

Hell, some states issue drivers licenses to folks who can not read, write, or comprehend English. Nothing deadly about that, either, eh?
graywanderer · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 who ever said I was against guns? I own several.

The fine people of Alaska don’t need AR-15’s with bump stocks and high capacity magazines. They somehow survived until the 1980’s before AR-15’s existed in the open market.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@graywanderer Oh, so you support folks in, say, Pennsylvania, using firearms to protect themselves from bears, wolves, and lions?
graywanderer · 46-50, M
@sunsporter1649 are you American? Do you realize we hunt stuff in every state?
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@graywanderer And some of the stuff that hunts humans has two legs, like in Chicago
