Fine, put an I.D. law. But also make them free to all citizens. Voting is not a privelage, its a right.

@SW-User but still if it costs, how is it racist?
SW-User
@abe182 No one said they were racist, oh wait never mind, you did. Just now. Spewing shit like always to delegitimize real racism. My people died and suffered under discriminatory laws from people like you. So fuck you.

@SW-User what Eva
redredred · M
@SW-User As is owning a gun.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@redredred guns should be free. The logic.
WeighedDown · 36-40, M
@SW-User abe182 has never appeared racist to me we disagree often but he does not seem racist
abe182 · 46-50, M
@WeighedDown thanks
SW-User
@WeighedDown I never did call him a racist, did I? I called out his support for laws which discriminate against my people. Their use of the word racist is used to delegitimize Right-wing acts of racism and i won't stand for it. They're using this to cover the alt-rights behind. Also, @abe182 fuck you again.
WeighedDown · 36-40, M
@SW-User you equated him to racist by saying
My people died and suffered under discriminatory laws from people like you
abe182 · 46-50, M
@WeighedDown he's confused let it go
SW-User
@WeighedDown You don't need to be a racist to support discriminatory laws. The I.D. law in itself is meant to discriminate against the poor, as that is what they believe will aid their party gain more political power. Discrimination is not the same as racism.
WeighedDown · 36-40, M
@SW-User I agree with it discriminated against the poor, also how the fuck gerrymandering allowed
SW-User
@abe182 The price doesn't make it racist. But it can't be denied that the price may make groups of people with less disposable income unable to obtain it. Which, unsurprisingly, could be seen as racist, since minorities generally make less money. Voting shouldn't cost anything. That's why poll taxes aren't a thing anymore. They were made to disenfranchise a large group of people. I think that if you actually care about democracy and the right to vote as a U.S. citizen, you should make the required identification free to obtain.
abe182 · 46-50, M
@SW-User I'm fine with making it free.
WeighedDown · 36-40, M
@SW-User they don't want to do that because then poor people will vote
SW-User
@SW-User It wont be enough. To get an I.D. one needs an address, homeless families, adults ect. Will be unable to vote. We need a way to allow them to vote without an address if they are homeless. We also need go give Native Americans the ability to access the DMV to ensure they get their I.D.s as well.
SW-User
@SW-User True. You need what? Proof of address, you need to provide proof of citizenship or residency, and a bunch of other shit.
StrictSouthernHOH · 46-50, M
Homeless people can put the address of a homeless shelter or even a street corner on an I.D. application. If a mailing address is needed, that can also be the homeless shelter's address or a relative's address. I see no reason why voters should not have to prove we are eligible to vote and that involves showing who we are.
