No, they were completely in the wrong. Fucking around in other countries half way around the world is a waste of time. If you're going to put troops in another country it better be all out war, and you better conquer them completely. Otherwise you're just going to destabilize everything and cause worse problems than any war would.

@SW-User I kind of agree with you... if only you would stop smoking though.

@SW-User Not to mention the US created the monster to begin with. They were also totally cool with and assisted his mass murder when it was against the American enemy of the month.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, that's just taking it too damn far. The monster was already alive and well.

I agree with that.
And Margaret Thatcher tried to teach that lesson to Bush, who should have learned the same lessons from history.
Unfortunately, he was so worried about "another Vietnam" that he let Hussein escape the noose.

We didn't "create" Hussein. And most of Iraq's weaponry came from the Soviets.
We did briefly side with Iraq during part of their decades-long war with Iran, primarily to let Kuwaiti oil get out of the Gulf.

@beckyromero You really need to do your research.

Talk about a softball question. What is that? A beach ball you're tossing towards me to hit?
Very well.
Simple enough.
The very first sentence of the United Nations Charter.
You know, that world-wide organization created due to World War II that was tasked with trying to prevent another global war through the means of collective security by dealing with threats against peace.
How do you justify getting involved at all?

Chapter 1
Article 1
The Purposes of the United Nations are:
To maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace, and for the suppression of acts of aggression or other breaches of the peace...

So in other words, you prefer the world of 1939. 🤔
Interesting.
😂😂😂
The UN shouldn't exist. Each nation and it's people should have the right to govern themselves. If the Allies really wanted peace after WW2 they would've gathered up what was left of the Axis powers military and infrastructure and used it to smash the Soviets before the 50s.

If you don't have the wherewithal to debate something, you resort to name calling?
Buh-bye! But leaving your remarks here quoted for everyone else to see. @SW-User
You're worse than useless.

@beckyromero Yeah because an organization designed to keep peace is a perfect pretext for violating peace and creating more war.
And he was created by the US. That is kind of the definition of a CIA asset. They helped him take power and he was their pet tyrant. The US knew he had chemical weapons in 1991 because Rumsfeld had the receipts. The US also provided the targeting data to gas the Kurds. He picked a war with Iran on American orders and the only reason he was suddenly a problem in 1991 is he went off script with Kuwait. But his CIA backing was also why he was sure he would be allowed to get away with it. After all Washington already helped him commit mass murder. He's is not the first CIA monster to go rogue and won't be the last.

And he was created by the US
The Ba'ath Party came to power in a coup in 1968, overthrowing Faisal II.
Iraq then become aligned with the Soviet Union, signing a 15-year Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with the Soviets in 1972, who supplied most of Iraq's weapons, tanks and combat aircraft.
Yeah, sure sounds like a typical CIA coup, huh?
Please peddle your BS elsewhere.
