Please don't attack . It's a discussion

SW-User
I think Trump’s performance in rallies or the debate stage is going to be much less important than the positions of the eventual Democratic nominee. Trump has a hardcore base of support, and that support isn’t going anywhere. His limitation is that he isn’t going to woo anymore people than he already has on his side. The outcome is going to depend on who turns out and where. If the Democrats nominate someone who supports decriminalizing border crossings and/or completely obliterating private health insurance, they’ll alienate enough moderates and centrists in those key midwestern states that Trump will win the electoral college again even if he loses the popular vote again. However, if the eventual Democratic nominee avoids going to the extreme left and can be a reasonable safe harbor for moderates, they can have Trump boxed in and could win. The ballgame is going to come down to whether Democrats keep their eyes on the prize and unify behind a more moderate candidate or whether they lurch and stay to the left and strand centrists by going a bridge too far.
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User Just read back what you wrote and you'll come to the Ban the Electoral College side. :)
SW-User
I’m not 100% sold on retaining the electoral college. I live in Illinois, so my individual vote really doesn’t matter in a presidential race. If we were to sunset the electoral college, it would require a Constitutional Amendment, so it would have to be done on logical grounds that go beyond people being dissatisfied with recent outcomes. Considering the ratification process for an amendment, a lot of smaller states would have to sign off on ceding their influence in presidential elections, which I doubt they’d ever consider.
Ynotisay · M
@SW-User But your vote DOES matter. Just as much as not voting matters. And I personally think it has little to do with a Democrat or Republican winning. It has to do with fairness. It's not like it was after Romney lost when the GOP was trying to divvy up electoral votes proportionally instead of 'winner takes all.' THAT was a direct response to losing. This is about an antiquated system that no longer serves its intended goal.
redredred · M
I see nothing hateful or racist in any of his tweets. Just because the four horse shit of the apocalypse may not be white doesnt mean criticizing them is racism.

@Razorback
economy is better, female employment best in history, black employment best in over 30 years. Even a university study shows race relations have improved.
If you believe America is a shithole, find a coutry you like. Nothing holding you here
I’ve watched a Townhall in Dayton Ohio and people were saying that industries in that community has brought jobs but they are low wage jobs.

You say black employment is better than it has been in 30 years. Tell me what kinda jobs are they doing? Yes, know that after just one year in office, Trump has touted the best employment numbers for minorities.

I never even said American is a shithole country. Have I? No I have not. As I matter of fact, unlike Trump, I always felt America is great.
@SimplyTracie
I just was on tour in Dayton, Ohio, everyone seems to love thee economy.
It's far too late for him to change his spots, I think.

At this point, everyone with an ounce of decency and a smidgen of intelligence knows who he is and his best shot is to draw out more people who like his nastiest and most destructive and evil impulses instead of trying to pretend to be something he's not for other folks.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@SimplyTracie Shiver me timbers! Cap'n Trump has beheaded the enemy ship's captain.

MarkPaul · 26-30, M
He spews anti-American screeds, he can barely read, he lies as part of his vocation, he is responsible for reversing clean air and water standards, and he is as corrupt as they come. If he gave up his hate speech, he would most likely lose the attention of that part of "the base" who still think for themselves, but find hate-fueled anger attractive. So, he would have no chance with the ones who are left who suckle at his t(w)eets. Those adoring and breathless fans simply don't number enough alone to make him feel as popular as he needs to feel to feed his multiple insecurities, let alone give him a chance of winning re-election.

So, he's not going to give up his hateful speeches. He needs them because that's basically all he has unless you still want to count his claim that he has eliminated the nuclear threat from North Korea as they launch new test missiles. If that is the case, perhaps his imagined endorsement of a Nobel Peace Prize from the Japanese Prime Minister will be enough to tip the scale in his favour.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheeOriginalAmazingsEXLover Why then would they be anti-union?
@SimplyTracie
It doesn't fit their narrative for the populous it's so important that they stay in power, to distort the news, media and everything individuals read, hear and watch.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@TheeOriginalAmazingsEXLover
What does that have to the democrats being anti-union. I don’t get it.

I sure both parties want to stay in power. Both distort the news.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
You mean accomplishments like...

1. Spending recklessly like a bankrupt company and crowing how great the short-term economy is doing
2. Denuclearizing North Korea
2. Implementing the best health care plan
3. Getting Mexico to pay for the wall
4. Getting a better Iran deal than what Obama ever did
5. Solving the China crisis
6. Scaring his breathless and limp fans about all the diseases being carried on "the caravan"
7. Talking about how pure the water is and how clean the air is ever since he relaxed regulations that increase pollution
8. Unleashing the hate among "the base" that he can no longer control
9. Lying about knowing about and being involved in hush money payments to a porn star he had sexual relations with

MarkPaul...I think you covered Trump pretty good.
SW-User
Hasn't delivered his promises of industrialization. Jobs are still leaking and many issues remain. Most importantly, he failed to bring healthcare reform, he promised he would, "take care of everyone." That was a lie. Though he cut taxes for the rich, the benefit isn't clear for the working class. All they see him is playing golf and tweeting on the dime of the working man. He's almost 80, this dude is a racist to the bone. He won't change.

Lol...the democrats sell hate...teach hate and disrespect...he calls them out and they get offended...
He will win big
daisymay · 51-55, T
@ianR0ckwell Yeah, did you see that Democratic rally the other day when they were chanting "send him back! send him back!" and the candidate just stood up there smiling and nodding?
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@PTCdresser57 How did he alienated our allies? By pulling out of the Iran deal, by telling them to pay more for their own defense? Pulling out of the Paris Climate control agreement?
Trump can't fix healthcare alone, he needs congress.
He threatened Mexico with tariffs, now they are stopping people at their southern border.
redredred · M
Trump will curb-stomp any democrat they run. Its five more years of Trump because the clown car of democrat candidates hasnt got a serious contender in it.

@Razorback We were talking about the bj you brought up. How long before he was elected did that take place? You wanted to compare that situation with Stormy Daniels, remember?

So, give us the exact ways in which they were identical.

daisymay · 51-55, T
@Razorback That's certainly one way they were not identical at all, but that's not what I asked for.
I suspect his approval rating would go up about 5% if he just stopped tweeting, but then again maybe his base wouldn't love him so intensely. One thing for sure--he knows exactly what he is doing and his tweets reflect his campaign strategy. If it works then more politicians will follow his example.
@BiasForAction dog whistle like he does.
@SimplyTracie I hope I am wrong.
@winchesterbros yep--they do
the way the democrats are behaving i dont think they have a chance of any of them getting elected. they are pretty much handing the election to him at this point.

SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@winchesterbros Way to much of that in the news. You’re right, people do marry assholes. 😔
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Please list what he has accomplished
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@strongbow Trump did what Obama didn't do, cut taxes and regulations.
@MartinII No, sometimes from a distance people can’t see the details and don’t understand the context. Trump rescinded the agreement with Iran that they were honoring, peacefully—solely because Obama was involved. (Trump’s agreement with North Korea wasn’t nearly as binding.)What people are unaware of is that some of Iranian funds frozen during the last bout of sanctions was unfrozen—that is to say, their own money was returned to them. But Trump’s racist rhetoric “trump’s” any fact. And the “excellent” conservative Supreme Court choices ? Only if you have no respect whatsoever for the reproductive rights of girls and women. 🙄
MartinII · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard Your first sentence is fair enough, but I have two specific comments. First, Trump did not rescind the Iran agreement solely because Obama was involved. The Obama agreement was highly controversial and opposed by many experts on the grounds that , in the long run, it made it more likely that Iran would obtain nuclear weapons. The fact that Iran was honouring the agreement is rather beside the point, because it is less onerous than the Non-Proliferation Treaty to which Iran was previously subject and which the Obama agreement relaxed.

As to the Supreme Court choices I mean, simply, excellent lawyers. I don’t think it’s contested that they were the best candidates available from the shortlists.
Im afraid he can win even with his vile hate speeches because a lot of assholes secretly and no so secretly agree with his vile mindset and will probly vote for him again.. And its not like we have anyone better to vote for :/

Trump isn't the only problem.. Its our whole country that's full of assholes apparently
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@strongbow You forgot reparations, open borders, ending ICE, and Homeland security.
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@GunSmoke9 What does “open Borders” mean to you and who is saying they want what you describe. Tell me, please.
GunSmoke9 · 56-60, M
@SimplyTracie Open borders means well open borders. No wall, no DHS, no ICE. Where people can just walk into our country. Beto said he would tear down walls. Most democrats won't just say outright that they want open borders. What are the democrats doing to fix our immigration laws, close loopholes, ect. Nothing. They keep offering more incentives for more illegals to cross. Medicare for illegals, sanctuary cities.
MartinII · 70-79, M
Maybe. But I suspect his speeches and tweets earn him votes, bizarre though it may seem to right-thinking people! 🤔
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
@MartinII I can see bashing your challengers.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
I didn't vote for Trump before and won't vote for him this time. He's still winning this election. Look at his competition. Look at what they are promoting. The whole Democratic party is in shambles. Most of the people voting for Trump will not be vocal about it. But they will be in the booth. It's laughable to think otherwise in my opinion. If Hilary couldn't beat him who can now present day?
Ynotisay · M
@TheunderdogofNY Not sure about shambles. I think the House, in particular, has been doing some amazing work. Democrats are inclusive and that means differing opinions. The GOP stands in lockstep with an "us vs. them" mentality. That might work for some but for others that's a real downside.

IMO any Democratic candidate is a better choice than Trump. This isn't coming down to individuals anyway. It comes down to strength vs. weakness, moving forward or backwards, choosing truth or lies, caring or hatred and facts or belief. It's super cut and dry as I see it.
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
@Ynotisay I suppose old sport we will have to see what the American people think collectively. I'm waiting to see who they will nominate and what they will stand for. But at this point I personally do not agree with everything the Democratic party is promoting.

I think they are in shambles.

You have the far left Democrats and those that are moderate.

Who is the true voice of the Democratic party?

Who is the one that people will get behind?

Who is a true leader for the people in their party?

I guess I'll stay tuned for more updates.
Ynotisay · M
@TheunderdogofNY OK. I hear you. But I listed what I see this election being about. What's all important is voting. And I hope this time the "outraged" millennial's, who think they need to "like" a candidate and can get over the fact there IS no "magic wand" as some like to promise, decide to put down their phones and games and actually vote. IMO they cost the Democrats the election last time. Sure hope it doesn't happen again.
TRUMP PENCE can and will, but they haven't done anything wrong. Y'all are blowing it out of proportion z!
@SimplyTracie
Good luck, it better be with a hammer and I will need to be asleep for you to even get that close. If you'd slap, hit me anywhere that gives me legal right to do whatever means necessary to get away. @SimplyTracie Loonies like him aren't an Anglo-Saxon thing!! Loonies like him and Boris bloody Johnson!! That's for revolutionary Frogs and Dagoes, mad racist Germans and Austrians; not us!! We're supposed to know better. I mean we had Oliver Cromwell!! We've had our mad Dictatorial overlord, which would make you think we didn't need to learn that lesson again, But nope!!! I see the Anglo-Saxon race needed to have their nationalistic political time in the sun like the French with Napoleon and the Germans with Hitler!!! A time for everyone to look back on someday and go "What were we thinking!?!?!". Bleeding hell you think we'd know better. I mean the British ruled a 5th of the planet once!! What do they need to prove?!?! And the Americans!!! Well, they've always been insecure, comes from having a nation which started out of rebellion and found by too many idealists and adventurers. Ah well. It's just a shame that those who grew up during WW2 have had to live this long to view such interesting, but unfortunately, familiar times again. And, instead of this happening over the back fence, it's happening in their own backyard.

@SimplyTracie Why did AOC vote against a spending bill to help the migrants?

@GunSmoke9 I dunno but maybe it was because she wasn’t gonna rubber stamp a “Mitch McConnell” version of the bill. The Senate bill included funds for the military and less for caring and for the migrant detention facilities.

What was wrong with the bill that Congress approved and sent to the Senate?
