The law is the law..

@SW-User so because it's the law it's right. I'm Nazi Germany it was illegal to aid Jews. Would you follow the law then too?

SW-User
@basilfawlty89 hahaha..
Nice straw man..
Whatever...
Hundreds of thousands of of illegal immigrants crossing the border every year is a problem..
We have laws for a reason, you dont agree with them, lobby your congressman to change them..

@SW-User That's not a strawman, you took the "lawful neutral" stance, and that is the logical extension of that. "Law is the law" is a copout when the law is unjust. And deporting a kid that was brought here as a toddler and lived here his entire life is not justice.

SW-User
@QuixoticSoul I happen to agree with that but what should be done? Ignore the law or change it..
In the case of these children who have spent nearly thier entire lives here , some form of or way of getting citizenship should be created but that's hasn't happened yet..

@SW-User Yes, almost as if DACA wasn't such a horrible awful policy, and should have been embraced by the right as well as the left, and expanded to include a path to citizenship to boot 🤔
It hasn't happened yet, because we have a strong xenophobic contingent here in this country, who think that Mexicans are bringing drugs and crime, and some might be good people.

@QuixoticSoul How do you separate the wheat from the chaff?
Graylight · 51-55, F
@SW-User It's a misdemeanor, likely committed by his parents, not him.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 Assume it’s wheat and let the system take care of the chaff. This kid has lead a productive life for a high schooler and never had trouble with the law.

@sunsporter1649 That dude’s never been in the states and doesn’t seem to be interested. What he has to do with a kid who’s lived here his whole life and has never had a run in with the cops, I’ll never understand.
Illegal immigrants commit less crimes than the natives. If we’re talking “wheat vs chaff” I say we deport all the natives. By the numbers, immigrants are simply better humans.

@QuixoticSoul Well, if illegal immigrants are such wonderful people, what the hell do they want to come to such a crime infested country like the USA?
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@sunsporter1649 Because US is not crime infested, but is actually a safe, relatively low-crime first world nation with a functioning legal system and economic opportunities. It’s not that the natives are particularly horrible for the most part - immigrants are just better.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@QuixoticSoul Immigrants, sure. Illegal immigrants, no way
