Why is everything expensive under trump.

Bag of chips was 1.49 4 years ago now they are 1.89. 40 cent price hike, gas is expensive.

Yeah, this chip thing is a national crisis. You might want to consider forming a support group called People Forced to Eat Pretzels.
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@thunderdogknight7 yeah you're not getting it. You've been spoonfed the idea that work and self-sufficiency is a bad thing.
What do you think happens to your precious bag of chips every time costs/taxes go up?
I can see I'm out-matched here. I'll bow out, and hope you someday come to realize that the American Dream is not coming here looking for cheap chips and socialism. Hell, the dems want to get rid of potato chips all together - unhealthy. Lol
Good luck in your search for afordable chip munching.

@thunderdogknight7 Thank you, Captain Obvious. Now, go tell every politician with a (D) or (I) after their name. Start with Bernie.

So potatoes must be planted and harvested. They must be transported to the processing plant. They must be processed into chips and packaged. The chips must then be transported to your local grocery store or convenience store so they can be stocked and sold to you. Lots of labor goes into making your chips available. Have the dems artificially raised any worker's wage in the last four years? Has minimum wage increased?? 🤔
easterniowegin · 51-55, M
@thunderdogknight7 so what?? GDP has gone up under trump where it didnt under obama also.

@thunderdogknight7
Please American infrastructure is collapsing is outdate and decaying.
And yet people are literally breaking the law to come here.
StrictSouthernHOH · 46-50, M
@easterniowegin Bingo! Most economists consent if wage rates rise by ten percent, it puts a choice before the nation of unemployment or inflation. This ignores the possibility of an equal productivity increase, but I think that would be unlikely.

@thunderdogknight7 So what? There are much worse things to worry about than a slight increase in the cost of a bag of potato chips.

@thunderdogknight7 I understand that, but really, you seem so focussed on this 13 and one third cent a year increase in the cost of a bag of potato chips. What about the possibility of a small nuclear war between Pakistan and India, which could lead to much worse. In 10 years, is anyone even going to care that under Trump, your bag of potato chips increased in price by 13 and one third cents a year?

There was a time when we measured a country's economy by how much it had grown or shrunk during the course of a year.

There seems to have been a great deal of silence on this issue for some years now. From most first-world nations.

That's because we are in a 'Major economic downturn' (in modern parlance) When in 'the old days' we'd call it what it actually is.
A Recession.
Several quarters with 0 or close to 0% growth.

This is good news if you have the ability to buy a car or own a house. But no good if you're an employer looking to increase your business or if you're an employee looking for a raise !

Trump; May; Merkle; Macron and co. seem to have glossed over this fact in an attempt to 'keep their country's together'. Because as you are now seeing in Paris; London and other cities, citizens are starting to let them know the game is up and they want something done about it !

Japan has it too as does Russia.

The Chinese meanwhile are pressing ahead with monetary and business reform. Starting from 0 (since until recently ALL their businesses were State Owned)they are seeing the greatest growth.
Read any business pages and you'll see it's all China at the moment.

Interesting how in the UK there's all this talk about Prince Harry and Meghan temporarily moving to Africa at some point in the near future....Bit of a sh*thole most of it,yet one wonders if there might be something 'business-wise' brewing out there that the Brits. want in-on first !

Think gas prices are high in the US under Trump? You guys buy by the gallon. Come to Canada and see how much you'll pay by the gallon here.
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
well, depends on what he drives and how often. personally we drive a prius as one of our vehicles and the gas efficiency is glorious. thankfully we have another cool car though to compensate lol. @BiblicalWarrior

Switch to Little Debbie's for cheap junk food. It has taken about 35 years for a box to double in price. Adjusted for inflation, they have actually gone down in price.
