you'd still have to find someone that will hire them - many company's won't hire somebody with a felony conviction.
then you still have to work on their mindset
and while they are in prison learning their trade will come into contact with tools that could become a dangerous weapon

If you kill a family member of mine do you think you did your time cause you connected a pipe in somebody’s sink?? Seriously, this isn’t rational.

This sounds like a great idea. Most of them are in there for some kind of drug offense so this would be great rehabilitation instead of punishment.

Most of them do learn a trade in prison. Usually carjacking or b&e or lockpicking.

You maybe able to train someone in less than a year but does that fulfill his punishment of his crime? What if he murdered one of your family members and he was a repeat felon? Would you feel ok releasing him back into society where he may kill again?

For certain, if not most non violent crimes, I agree 100 percent.
I would add a requirement to pay restitution, though.

The corporations that profit from the incarceration of Americans will never agree to that. They don't want an educated, productive populace, they want prisoners.....

Prison was never designed to rehabilitate prisoners

@ShadowOfMyself it should be
Great way to get them into someone's house to steal or blow something up.
What about people that already know a trade?
