The problem with that is if they can't run again then they can be as corrupt as they want and not have to worry about getting caught.

and there raises should be voted on by the american people. they are the only people in government who can give them selvs a raise whether they deserve it or not.

If one wanted a career in "public service", it is possible to seek other offices. There just would not be the entrenched advantage of incumbency.
