I don't see any reason for Assange to be extradited to the US. He's got that charge in Sweden, but I believe he should be treated as a whistle blower in the US and not a criminal.

Sadly, the past several administrations have not respected the rights of whistle blowers.

@ViciDraco Charges in Sweden have been dropped. The rape charge could be re-opened, others have passed statute limits.

@hlpflwthat ah. Didn't know they were dropped. And statute limitations only count for charges being filed. I don't think you can hide from the warrant and let statutes kick in.

@ViciDraco Not to beat up on you, but past administrations did not charge Assange in the US. I do agree that Obama's administration was a disappointment for their treatment of the truth. Bush W's treatment of whistle blowers was worse still, especially regarding the Robt Mueller FBI.

@hlpflwthat I never said they were all harsh on Assange, I was saying they were harsh on whistle blowers. And that Assange should be treated as one. Really, whistle blower laws are meant to protect federal employees like Manning and Snowden. Assange should be outside of US jurisdiction and even outside of it should be protected under first amendment.

@ViciDraco You do remember the Clinton and DNC emails the Russians hacked and gave to Assange to disseminate,right? Or the 50,000 Podesta emails he made public about an hour after Trump's Access Hollywood clip was released? Remember Gucifer 2.0?

@Ynotisay don't know what Lucifer 2.0 is. Don't see how Clinton's emails are important in the discussion.

I'm to the left, I despise that Trump is President. But I don't give a damn about those emails and I really don't think they made the kind of impact people think they did. Also, I'm not against the release of the DNC emails.

I wish they would have released the RNC emails as well. I wish they would have been less politically biased. But I don't see a crime in what they did.

@ViciDraco Gucifer is not a typo :) The Clinton & Podesta emails are the material that has endeared Mr Assange to the right. The Orange One himself declared Assange's transgressions worthy of the death penalty in 2010, when a wikileaks dump revealed some of our(the US) finest moments.

But yes, it did endear them to the right at that moment. But that is also irrelevant to how I view them.

Speaking of what Trump said when... Now Trump says he doesn't know anything about wikileaks. Which really, if his memory is that short I have to question whether he is for to continue the duties of his office 😏
