Many of your age group think socialism is the way to go.

@jackson55 well the world has changed and cutthroat capitalism isnt gonna work in a society that cant provide jobs for everyone. the next automatisation wave is going to happen.. and many many jobs will be lost and we need to fine a way to sustain the wealth of the population. if this was still the 1920... ot even the 1990s you would be right... but you cant ignore technologial progress
jackson55 · M
@AngelofFail Technologial progress and socialism are two different things.
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@jackson55 well you brought up socialism... i am just talking about solutions for a changing world
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@AngelofFail What he calls Socialism, is actually Communism! 2 very different Scenarios!!
jackson55 · M
[@ I agree with you, the world is changing, some good some bad. But looking to the government is not the solution to everything. People like Sanders and Cortez think it is.
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@Harriet03 people like to label things... i am really just for a strong social security net. it solves so many issues and we can easily afford it if we wanted to
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@jackson55 countries, nations, goverments became strong when people were fed up with aristocrats ruling how they felt like. but we reached a point where companies and rich people have more power then nations... that cannot possibly be the way to go. if a company like amazon that makes billions pays less taxes then i do something is wrong and i expect my country to step in there and curtail business models like that.
and yeah i singled out amazon here but the same is true for many many other business here

[@ Yes some corporations make big money and how many jobs do they provide?
AngelofFail · 26-30, F
@jackson55 the problem isnt them making money.. the problem is them avidong taxes...
the bigger a company is the more they rely on infrastructure provided by the country.

@AngelofFail Pre 1973, it was illegal to profit from health. Now look at it!! 🤦♀️

@jackson55 “Jobs” is a shitty metric. It makes no distinction between working somewhere like Costco where you are payed a good wage and given benefits, and working somewhere like Wal-mart where you are payed a pittance, actively denied full-time, and can be fired for just suggesting a union to a coworker, or somewhere like Amazon where they are so strict about scheduling that employees sleep in their cars in the parking lot and have to pee in bottles because they aren’t allowed bathroom breaks. So to hell with “how many jobs”, tell me “what kinds of jobs” and “how do they contribute to society”.

Well, it's 2019 and for the first in a long time - we're are at virtually zero unemployment. Take it easy Chicken Little - the sky is just fine.

Actually your money paid people already retired and now our kids (or at least my kids as they have jobs ) pay yours. And even with present numbers it will be sustained at 80% of benefits with no changes. Social Security ,another thing Republicans tried to prevent, is not going away.@Budwick
Budwick · 70-79, M
@monte3 Well, one of us is wrong.
"The future of Social Security remains uncertain.
In fact, the Social Security trust funds that pay retirement and disability benefits could possibly be depleted by 2035. "

@OggggO
I wasn’t aware you had the authority to authorize or forbid things
OH, well please familiarize yourself with the Constitution. We the people are authorized. Government is there to serve us. THEY imposed social security on us. THEY took money from social security and never paid it back. THEY pass continuing resolutions without regard to debt or budgets.
And, there is no argument about Obamacare. It sucked.
