Should all congressmen and senators be limited to two terms ?

i mean there is a reason we limit presidency to two terms.. why not the same for all political mandates. would definitely help with the corruption.

But isn't that taking away the citizens right to vote for who they want? What if there's a really high-performing representative who is disallowed to run? Seems to me that if the people don't like the way someone is doing their job then they vote them out of office. Personally, I'm not in favor of term limits for the President either. It should be up to the people.

@Milkshake Fuck you. I just don't play with children. Go away.

@Ynotisay 😢
There are valid arguments on both sides. Some say it takes a number of years of experience to learn how to navigate the system and develop skill in lawmaking that results in fewer unintended consequences. There's sense to that.

However, there are many people who also make a living as advisors and counselors to law makers.

I'm in favor of term limitation, but the trick is to get the same people it will effect (Congress and House) to pass term limitation. Many of them say they too are in favor, but somehow it never happens.

@Mamapolo2016 yeah its almost impossible to get those in power to change the same laws that made them get into power

We have incredibly effective term limits already.

They're called elections.

@SW-User Bingo. Now if people just got off their asses and voted maybe they'd realize the power they actually have.

I would like to see a maximum of 4 terms. Better yet, I would like to see direct votes by the people, and the elimination of Congress and turning it into a administrative body.

I don't know how House members get to do anything at all. By the time they're sworn in, they're ready to get back on the campaign trail.
very yes.. theres ppl there who've done sweet fuck all in 20 years but have become very wealthy on public servant wages..

audit the lot of them.

For the same reason their length of terms are all different...so we can't vote everyone out at the same time and overthrow the gov't.
A lot of those people have been groomed into their position. They won't all give up their job that easily. There's a massive political culture that we couldn't even begin to comprehend, unless we were apart of it. There's also the fear they install into us. If such an idea was ever brought to a vote, no doubt the media would exaggerate all the problems and say it'll collapse the government.

Yes, it was one of the things trumps wanted to accomplish.

I think the years should be equal. 2 terms for the senate (12 years), so 6 for the house. The house members will be under more jeopardy.

How about we lengthen the terms, and you only get one term?

Absolutely!!

Yes. In fact they should start over with an entirely new group of congressmen and senators

No. We need continuity and wisdom. Reform campaign finance, though.
