Enough is Enough! The shutdown needs to end NOW!!

It almost doesn't matter who's at fault anymore. People are on the verge of missing their second check. People are having to sell belongings, cars, homes, etc. They can't even afford the basic necessities such as food and Lord knows what else.
Riverman · 56-60, M
I feel bad for the people missing their checks and so on. But, I feel worse for the people missing their kids because we refuse to control our border.

@AMERICA1ST The last few years have driven away any lingering thoughts that I had that they really give a crap about regular people.
That is a lot of fentanyl. There was also enough fentanyl and oxycodone etc. produced by legal profit making drug companies in this country that could also kill everyone. And They started an opioid addiction problem in this country by offering Dr.s kick backs for every prescription they wrote. @cherokeepatti
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
It should never been shutdown, in the first place. Acting like a spoilt BRAT, who can't get his own way!!
He had 2 yrs of total control, & did Jack shit about the wall!!
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@Kenscoff Or haven't got the balls, to admit It!
Most of Europe, think he's political toast.

@Kenscoff The evangelicals, will have them back in the middle ages, in quick time!

You all know this isn't any wall, dont you? It is a power play for trump. The Democrats gained control of the House, so he shuts down the government so they can't get anything done. He just taunted them because they weren't getting anything done. They can give him the money for the wall, and he still won't reopen the government. He needs to be removed from office so this country can get back to work and back to running the government. If he cannot, or won't, kick him out.
@nakedguy Thank you. Ultimately this “crisis” is to keep eyes off the investigation, too.
@nakedguy *applauds you*

@PainfulTruth please grow up and use people's real names. By the way, the Democrats in the House passed a bill to reopen the government. It was sent to the Senate, and Mitch refused to let it be voted on. A bill to reopen the government must pass both houses of Congress before being sent to the president for signing or vetoing

@Kenscoff OK, whatever you want to believe.

The democrats need to come to their senses. I appreciate their working towards guaranteeing a surge in conservatism in the three branches of government, but you're right. This has gone too far. The democrats need to return to sanity and Nanchuck needs to flip burgers or wait tables or maybe just retire.
@nakedguy It's not a "who" it's a "what" . There is no specific "who" in that scenario. WW2 got us out.
nakedguy · 70-79, M
@puck61 conservatives got us into it and FDR, a Democrat, got us out of it. Read your history
nakedguy · 70-79, M
Are you independently wealthy? If not, if you have ever had to collect unemployment, social security, or Medicare, you can thank a liberal. If you got overtime for working more than 40 hours in one week, you can thank a liberal. I could go on, but you get the picture. You benefit from what liberals have done, yet you hate them.

@PainfulTruth You should worry more about your own home grown gang members that for the most part were created by American society.

That is absurd and a tactic of trumps fear mongering to his easily led base supporters. @PainfulTruth
Trump is a dictator. Why does he think he can do anything to a great nation? Can he be removed from office in some way? He is an arrogant madman.

[big]The real outrage is that the members of Congress are still receiving pay.[/big]

Why are the lawmakers getting paid but the rest of the federal government isn't?

Let the lawmakers feel the pinch too and then we'll see how quickly this is resolved. In the meantime, not one lawmaker should be paid or allowed to cash any check from the federal government or supporters.
otto78 · 51-55, M
As I understand it, all federal employees are not receiving paychecks. Why doesn't this apply to lawmakers too?
sweetiepoo · 36-40, F
@Kenscoff Is there a reason why they should when the rest of the government isn't?

My family and fellow country men can not continue to support ILLEGALS! BUILD THE WALL!
nakedguy · 70-79, M
@curiosi Building the wall will do nothig about illegals. Statistics show most of them come into this country by other means.
The wall will not stop immigration, or illegals, or criminals, or drugs, from entering our country as trump has said "This will end all that". He made a promise of a wall that that Mexico would pay for. It wouldn't cost taxpayers anything, a FREE wall ? In the past there were incidents of make-shift submersibles entering the US waters, from Mexico, along the coast of California and discovered by the Coast Guard, another branch of the military not being funded due to the shut down. He has created a National Emergency and a vulnerability to Our National Security and a threat to the lives of people in Our country. @curiosi

@Greybare And your understanding of The Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments to the Constitution is sorely lacking.
SW-User
Agreed ...it needed to have never started to begin with....

I blame Mitch McConnel ..the spineless ...myrtle the turtle M-effer
Platoscave · F
@SW-User Plenty of blame to go around. Never forget, 46.1% of all voters pulled the lever for this horrorshow orange madman and they never stopped to think what that might mean when the suits got their hands on it (electoral college). I had no third party choice so I left the space BLANK.
SW-User
@Platoscave republicans could stop all this craziness...but they are spineless
Platoscave · F
they are cowards because they are here so therefore they weren't ever going to have "spine" ;=(

Federal employees do have another option.

They can't legally strike. But they can legally quit.

They could all threaten to quit en mass on the same day and then collect unemployment (depending on their state's laws) while looking for jobs in the private sector if they are not paid by a certain date.

There's no way the federal government could quickly train 800,000 employees if they all quit at the same time.

Something like 20% of air traffic controllers are eligible for retirement right now.

If they all took it, I wonder how long the shutdown would last?
beckyromero · 36-40, F
@Greybare

If Trump and the GOP were sure of that, then they'd do it.

@Greybare
Have you seen the news lately?
About...?
MarineBob · 56-60, M
actually none of those departments has had a budget since sept.30... and congress did not give a rats ass they were more interested in kavanaugh then
@MarineBob Filthy plague of hypocrites.............🤬
This all started with, "I will be proud to shut down the government, I will take the mantel, I wont blame you, (said to Chuck and Nancy), on TV. (while Pence was taking a nap ?) And now he is blaming them. "I don't blame Nancy she is being controlled by the Radical Left." Another example of a great strategy by the 'Art of the Deal' master and his uncanny 'instinct' for encouraging negotiations ? I think that it has become a personal vendetta by the Misogynist POTUS because a Woman said "NO" to him on TV and in public for everyone to see. "Be careful Nancy."
Quizzical · 46-50, M
Objectively... What exactly is all of it about anyway?
@Platoscave Isn’t that the perfect analogy for it ? 👍🏽
Platoscave · F
@GunSmoke9 Its a trick. The Dems won't fall for it. WE NEED DACA. WE NEED TO DITCH THE WALL.

No more divide and conquer....while Nero plays Rome burns.
and the whole planet too.
Platoscave · F
TY Softie, Dummer and BB!
The leader of chaos and division, the Fake POTUS, has an insatiable ego that seeks attention, good or bad, doesn't matter as long as he gets it. Depriving people of their paychecks is not something new for him neither is lying.

Every government worker needs to call in sick one, or two days.
Riverman · 56-60, M
@chrisCA Even the ones who are not at work are going to be paid.
chrisCA · M
@Riverman But they are not getting paid. That is the problem.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
its ok this isn't new to a lot of other ppl I'm sure they will manage
sweetiepoo · 36-40, F
@JovialPlutonian Please explain to me how they will manage? How about you go to work and sacrifice two whole paychecks. Tell me how well you managed when you are done.
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
they could ask themselves how all those starving survive in third world countries. Yes I'm sure they can manage without a pay check or two when others survive with fuck all @sweetiepoo
Agreed, which is why no one but Trump (and maybe Miller and others) thought it was a good idea.

It's bad for everyone, save Trump and those who wish harmless on the US.

@Harriet03 That is a long time to wait to discipline a foolish ruler. How long will they wait to take care of Trump I wonder?
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@Harriet03 We got shit done back then, lol
Harriet03 · 41-45, F
@PoetryNEmotion He called the shots after the shutdown, Trump called them before, that's the difference!
