Is a second referendum on Brexit inevitable?

benJohnson99 · 18-21, M
yes I think so the orginal referendum was to focused on immigration and since then many more complex issues have surfaced which were never debated on for example the custom union so to solve the current log jam a peoples vote would be the best way forward 👍

@kingkyri no I dont think so as the current situation is unfavourable to both @kingkyri Leavers and Remainers the peoples vote would finally set the course for the UK

I voted to leave, I knew what it meant (sovereignty, not immigration was my main concern) and my side won fair and square. I will take part if we have a second referendum, but I will be seething with anger in the voting booth. They didn't respect the result the first time we won, so why should I think they will respect it if we win again? It is laughable that they are calling it "The People's Vote". It should be called The Remoaners' Vote: their attempt to overturn a result they don't like, because they think they are entitled to win.

We’ve already had the referendum and leave won it’s just the remoners who want another referendum because they didn’t like losing. What happens when they lose again will they want another one. They are just sad losers.

Not inevitable but it's an option. What thinks you?
benJohnson99 · 18-21, M
@firefall yes I totally agree with you Cameron only called for a referendum when Tory MPS were defecting to the racist UKIP party and with the Brexit current mess where are Cameron and UKIP now.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@firefall Cameron resigned when he never got his own way, his arrogance thought that the people would never vote to leave the EU
MrSimons · 41-45, M
@benJohnson99 Errr, how is Farage and UKIP racist? I keep seeing people throwing that accusation about, but not with any backing. The term "far-right" seems to be thrown around a lot too. You are stripping those words of their meaning when you use them to describe everyone who is slightly to the right of David Cameron.

@RyanUK repeating a cretin's remark makes you ... what? If you think the idiotic statement gains credibility by the authority of the Prime Minister, you have far deeper problems than just your intelligence level

Not according to Theresa. But it would be sensible. We know more now than they did two years ago. The key point is the UK does not govern by referendum. We elect MPs to speak for us. David Cameron should never have given a referendum. He thought he was safe. He thought we would say yes. A successful election gimmick. But being Prime Minister of the UK means being responsible. Not continuing your debating games at Oxford University. It means being like the people. The 99.99% who didn’t go to Oxford to play politics.

@kingkyri you can make an argument for a second ref that isn't based on bullshit. Don't think that would make us that global idiots......mind you, Gavin Williamson telling the Russians to "go away and shut up" and this government being the first in domestic history to be called in contempt of parliament kind of points to us being up high in the "idiotic global league table"
firefall · 61-69, M
@gol979 as long as Trump is US President, the idiot of the world title is safely kept away from you
gol979 · 41-45, M
@firefall I said we are high up there, maybe not quite top spot but we are a tough match for anyone.....especially on home soil 😏
Well no then that kind of defeats the purpose of a referendum. Maybe after a few years when more of the younger generation becomes voting age they can do one to see if they should reapply for EU membership.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@firefall any bad things about the EU?
firefall · 61-69, M
@gol979 Sure. Better than the alternative <> Only good things.

& frankly the EU would also be better with the UK in, rather than out
gol979 · 41-45, M
@firefall so what are the bad points of the eu?
firefall · 61-69, M
Oh I wish it were, but no, not inevitable
