No. While it can be argued that we never needed a presence in the Middle East, the fact is we're there now. We have guaranteed support to our allies and we have created a defense against those who would do harm.
In leaving suddenly, we create a vacuum. We've done this over and over in the world, and each time it has been a spectacular failure. In the space of that vacuum, the most powerful and ruthless forces will gain control. We will end up back over there fighting those forces, just as we have for decades.
