Are Feminists Really About Female Empowerment...Or Are They Just Women In Power?

Feminists fought for women's right to vote, for example. And for a woman's right to purchase a car without prior consent of her husband. I don't know whether that has much to do with "empowerment". From a male perspective, yes, maybe it has.

@helenS I think the distinction is between feminists are simply claiming rights that men have enjoyed, versus changing the rules by which we all live for the benefit of women. Or at least certain women.

I think the majority of people (including men) now think the former is an unchallengeable and righteous cause.

The latter is more controversial. In my view is justifiable, but not unchallengeable.

@WoodyAq Thank you - I get your point. I am not aware of "feminists" who fight for female supremacy.

@helenS Well, I wouldn't call it supremacy. Take gender out of it ... do you just want the full rights society has chosen to give people, or do you also want a say on how rights are developed in the future.

You should want both. But, I shouldn't object to you claiming your rights and should support you.

But I may, and should be allowed to, object to new rights you want to develop and propose my own.
