Is Anonymous saving the country or thwarting democracy?

He/she seems to argue both that the internal resistance is saving a conservative agenda from Trump's ill-informed populism and that it is saving America from a dangerous infant with nuclear weapons.

Anonymous seems to make no distinction between the two motivations. But the first is a subversion of democracy. It certainly makes Anonymous a coward, at best.

The second denotes a massive failure of the political class, and especially the Republican Party as an institution. And it makes Anonymous the best among cowards.

What do others think?

wish this post made sense; either way, the andwer to the title question is... neither.

@SW-User Explain?
SW-User
@WoodyAq with or without Anonymous, the country shall not be lost and democracy shall not be thwarted.
WoodyAq · M
@SW-User Hmmmm. But it seems key parts of it are being lost (by Trump's attacks on the rule of law) and are right now being actively thwarted- either by the "Steady State" or by the Republican party covering for Trump's unfitness. Or both.
SW-User
@WoodyAq nothing is permanent in politics. the pendulum will swing back in the other direction soon enough.
WoodyAq · M
@SW-User That may be over optimistic ...

I wonder how many Americans realize that the situation so common in other countries: political instability, crisis, economic collapse, state failure, etc. are the result of people consciously making bad choices, while telling themselves and others that the choices aren't that bad.

Take any historic crisis, and rewind 5-10 years, you'll find a bunch of people dismissing the alarmists.
SW-User
@WoodyAq i’m not attempting to dismiss alarmists. they are definitely part of the process of the pendulum swinging back in the other direction.
WoodyAq · M
@SW-User How much damage will be done in the meantime?
SW-User
@WoodyAq not enough that the future won’t be able to ameliorate it.
WoodyAq · M
@SW-User I hope you are right. I'm not as optimistic, given the current state of discourse.
SW-User
@WoodyAq i’m not optimistic, i’m realistic.
WoodyAq · M
@SW-User Hmmm. So were a lot of people who dismissed the idea that they were marching into purgatory. Or worse.
SW-User
@WoodyAq incorrect; that is not an example of realism, it’s an example of complacency. and purgatory is merely a theory, at this point.
