The governor of California has created a permanent law rationing indoor water use for all residents to 55 gallons a day.

By 2030 that amount will drop to 50 gallons a day for indoor use. That amount is per person in the household per day.

Mothers are wondering how they will do laundry. Could you live with only using 55 gallons of water a day, including dishwashing, laundry, showers, bathing pets, and so on?

I could and probably do, but regardless.

On the other side of the coin, that's what happens when your state grows a bunch of cities and farms in a desert and drains it's very limited water sources overpopulating a desert that doesn't have enough water to support the population.

@SW-User that's the part that really annoys me when people talk about how great Califronia is and how it's economy and agriculture is so great. Sure it kind is nut it's a total house of cards in the wind.The ones who act like Cali could stand on it's own fail to admit that it is all.over I'd other states shut the water off to them. Sure it's a strong economy now, but the whole thing is built on toothpicks and is completely unsustainable.
@MethDozer that’s likr renewable energy here in Oz that’s heavily subsidised by the tax payer to make it affordable as coal power.. take away the government prop ups. Renewable energy would be mega expensive.. greenie progressive morons

@MethDozer It is perfectly sustainable if we give the farmers the middle finger. Their rather anemic economic contribution doesn't justify using up 85%+ of our water.

@QuixoticSoul It's a big part of it, yet it is far from an anemic part of the state economy. Nor is the population of say LA sustainable on it's own on terms of water. But yeah, the misguided agricultural practices are a huge part of it. Considering it is a big part of Southern California, it IS unsustainable. Sustainable by definition meaning sustaining the current condition.

@MethDozer Agriculture uses 80% of our available water, and generates about 2% of the gdp. And yeah, you can futz around a bit with those numbers, but still - things are way the fuck out of balance.

@QuixoticSoul Completely out of balance.
