Should rifles be allowed to have detachable magazines? Why or why not?

Top | New | Old
Do they make killing kids easier?

Does the positive value of detachable magazines on rifles outweigh their negatives?

I'm pretty sick of gun fetishists arguing about assault weapons v assault rifles, and pretending like they have a legimate point against simplistic liberal pacifists who dont know which end of a gun is which.

At this point, and it's just my opinion, but I think that "responsible gun owners" ought to have the burden of proof on the social utility of their fetish items.

I get the second amendment, but it's time that the people who want to have guns start recognizing they can't just say.. dead kids are the price to pay for liberty.
@Scubaguy027 Thanks for explaining that to me. That makes sense.

I got a Remington 700 DM (detachable magazine model) for precisely these reasons. The magazine holds four rounds, it is not high capacity.

@MistyCee no prob. Glad I could help.

@Byron8by7 I'm looking at a 7 round mag. I like that bit of extra weight

Of course they should.

It's easy to get bored sitting around waiting to shoot things. It'd be nice to have something to read.

@FelixLegion i was referring to the idiots that believe rifles with detachable magazines should be banned and all new rifles shall have a permanent magazine that can not be removed with 10 round capacity only

That’s taking it a bit too far.

Most already do

How will you reload?
Moosepantspatty · 31-35, M
Yup. Breach loading weapons and others have been all but outmoded outside of long range target shooting.

Check out the 'mad minute' used by British troops in world war 1 and 2. It was a bolt action rifle fed from the top. It was to be used in the non-detachable mode. Mad minute, check it out. FAST AND ACCURATE SHOOTING.

"I was referring to the idiots that believe..."
So you really weren't asking a question, were you?
