I disagreed with McCain about a lot of things, but always thought he believed what he was doing was best for the country.
I really don't think the same thing about a lot of Republicans anymore, and at the moment ethical leadership on that side is pretty sketchy.
I'm sad to see him go, but the guy deserves to spend his last days without living through the hell that Washington is going to become.

I've disagreed with his politics for a long time, but he is an honorable man. In the age of trumpism, we need more honorable men and women in office.

@Abstraction What does it say about your personal character that he armed terrorists in Syria?
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@BayouBoudin I totally disagreed with his decision and much of what he believed. He got it wrong. It says nothing at all about my personal character, what I believe or how I act in the world.
If someone thinks disagreement about ideas means some kind of hate party, then it says something about their personal character.

McCain has only ever been interested in promoting McCain. @snowbelt

I have absolutely no respect for mccain. and it has nothing to do with s position on war. people are allowed to make mistakes. My disrespect for him emanates from his backstabbing his own party. You can call it moderate if you choose but it's flat out backstabbing and gloating about it. His only agenda now is making sure the idiots on the left "remember him well". I would piss on his grave if I was walking by.

Ageeed. His only agenda has been promoting McCain. Zero in terms of positive accomplishments benefiting the public. @katielass

@jackjjackson What accomplishments does he have? I can't think of even one. And with the revelation (to me at least) that he wasn't the hero that is claimed when a pow, I find it believable based on his conduct since.

Exactly @katielass

@TexChik Every single thing you've just said about McCain is completely false. Do you really have such little regard to fact that you have to use lies to slander a man? I'm not a fan of his politics, and never have been, but he is still an honorable man who deserves respect on his way out.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
No. Thanks for the info. Doesn’t shock me. @TexChik

I used to like him.... but I'm over that. . He needs to go the way of other older politicians before they screw things up more.

Does it make you feel better about yourself by kicking others when they are down?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
I don't like his politics but this is a horrible post.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The image of McCain is a PR fantasy. He’s always been an ego driven power seeker putting himself first always.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Touche’ didnt spot you as a McCainite. @Northwest
Northwest · M
@jackjjackson Why I would have to be a McCainite, to point out the obvious?
I like McCain as a person, but think his foreign policy positions are not well thought through, and he's too impulsive. Examples include Iraq war, Syria (wants to arm "moderate" Islamist rebels), and who can forget Palin?

...... all in the futile hope of self promotion @Northwest

I'm indifferent. Whoever replaces him isn't going to be much different. It's always the same type of person elected over and over and over.
