Im baffled with how many people are against feminism. I want to understand why, anyone that wants to discuss the topic(hopefully in a friendly manner) I'd prefer you to pm me but it's ok to comment too.
There is a lot of anti-feminism on the internet because the there are a lot of men on the internet who are not having sex with women. They talk to each other and find convenient political justifications for their life circumstances.
@QuixoticSoul Well yeah, there are a lot of reasons why people are anti-feminist but I mean come on, there is a reason why it's so much bigger and angrier in online politics than IRL.
They’re not against feminism, they’re against what they think is feminism

I think some feminists take it to a negative level of male hating. No one wants to be hated for something they can't help like gender. Hence the negative reactions.
@SW-User Yes, but due to that some take it too far, that doesnt make what they do feminism

@attaboy I agree it isn't. Which is why its misconstrued. True feminism isn't about hating men..its about loving yourself and allowing no limitations to be put on yourself due to your gender. Im a humanist. Gender means nothing to me...all people not just one gender.
@PUBGGuy There are just multiple layers of naiveté at work here.
You are not an island, and do not control everything that happens in your life. Your children are not going to be superhumans, and both luck and their environment will play a huge role in how things turn out for them as well - as for all of us.
I suspect (or hope) that when/if you have daughters, you'll take a closer look at how society impacts their lives.
I don’t really know anymore. I’m against some of it. I disagree on abortion. I think there are reasons women make less on average. Probably more I can’t recall at the moment. I think a lot of them are being dramatic, especially the ones who make money off of talking about it.
@getmeouttahere Yeah, but I think that its wrong. That such an originally well intended movement, due to some extremists have ruined the name and people shy away from a movement, people who define by a movement that wants people to grow up feeling safe and knowing they have the same tools to have a life where they are being respected and have secure enviroment
Im not against it, but people in it can be much. In every movement there are extremists... i dont like the people who come and try convince aggresiviely than stating their opinion respectfully and not all of them are okay with it if someone else disagrees.
I’m an old-school feminist from when it meant equal rights and opportunities for women. Equality, not supremacy. That goal is still relevant, especially for women in non-Western countries. From my perspective, anti-feminists are anti-woman: men who hate women and women who hate themselves.
@SW-User I feel the same way, but me and the ones in my surrounding say we are feminists. We are just very clear with saying that we are not like the extremists and all we want is equality. Not hate, not for any gender

@attaboy Thats admirable, maybe rebranding may be an idea, certainly most associate feminism with radical extremist ideas, its unfortunate. There are few women making the distinction. When Germaine Greer (possibly the most renound and respected femenist in modern times) commented on the #metoo movement she was generally ignored. Interesting indeed on what is driving this current discontent.
@bijouxbroussard I never said it was unnecessary. And I never said my opinions on the subject. I do however believe the statements made that I replied to are more damaging to equality than good
if a statistic points that there are more women than men in a workfield, they will consider it a 'triumph of women'
It depends on the context. Quite often, feminists are uncomfortable with that sort of inequality because it demonstrates that something has become "women's work". Few are triumphant with the fact that women dominate nursing, for example.
@starrybunny You keep using the word "feminists" and I don't think you understand what it means. As @attaboy has tried to explain, are their women who claim to be feminists and hate men? Of course, but that doesn't mean they are the majority opinion of the movement.
Every group or movement has its outliers, and you show your ignorance but making fun of someone trying to point that out. "Cackle" away if you like, it doesn't make you look intelligent or even remotely correct.
@sighmeupforthat Yep, just because you support the solution of a problem doesnt make you forget about other problems. Just bcuz ur for womens rights doesnt mean you are a man hater
