Everything is racist anymore....it would take 24/7 to keep it all straight if you include all races and genders and so on. I choose not to focus on it and just take people as they are.
EllaDisenchanted · F
@ravenwind43 Exactly
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F

swimmergirl · 22-25, F

Abrienda · 26-30, F
Yes...by definition.
Coppercoil · M
Asking questions about what does and does not define racism is racist.
MethDozer · M
@Coppercoil lmao
ianR0ckwell · M
@Coppercoil thank you George Orwell for your reply
ianR0ckwell · M
I am not disagreeing with her just asking for examples Or her criteria. This question is about how do we determine and Identify rascism.
Northwest · M
It depends on who makes the assumption and the context.
If you're a red neck, raised in a red neck family, in a red-neck town, and you hate other races, then, naturally, you assume all white people should be white.
If you're a black child, raised in apartheid South Africa, then it's natural for you to assume white people are racist, but that's just an observation, and does not mean you're a racist yourself, as this is the only world you know.
If you're someone from Chinese descent, and a Professor at Berkeley, and you assume all white people are racist, then you're probably a racist.
If you're a black child, growing up in the projects, and your only exposures to whites, is those who hate on everyone who looks like you, then you might assume that all white people are racist, but does not mean you're a racist yourself. It's just an observation.

@Blackpower why not?
ianR0ckwell · M
This question is not denying the black experience of rascism but exploring what whites often experience.
Graylight · 51-55, F
Look up the concept.
No, no assumptions need be made. Racism among some whites and some institutions is clear, proven and alive & well. It's not racist to point out the obvious.

you do realize that skin color is a pigment not a heritage.
humm, sounds racist to me boy.
learn about the real races that NOW exist.
and no, nothing is going to become "one color" the colors are going to stay whether you like it or not.
i'm a mestizo, we come in black, white, red, olive, brown, yellow and in between mixed with features from all over.
but you all have your little 'cards' to flip out during those little games you all like to take a STAB at each other.
truth is color is not a race and i'm sure that's going to butt hurt a few.
put them all in one room and DNA test them!
then watch the sparks fly.

@sighmeupforthat I don't believe in race..were all one big disfunctional family...
BrewCityBarfly · M
Nowadays, some of my (usually younger) black friends remind me a lot about my "white privilege".
ianR0ckwell · M
@BrewCityBarfly so true
Fernie · F
@ianR0ckwell there is not a shadow of a doubt that whites are privileged
BrewCityBarfly · M
The problem in it's foundational form; stereotype and demonize an entire group of people without regard to their personal social and economic history, purely because of their perceived race, color, religion, etc. I say perceived because there are inherent flaws in the model. Propagandize and ignore the issue.
FreeSpirit1 · F
Saying..That's a typical (fill in the blank)person respone is racist as well
Fernie · F
assuming? the racists here are quite obvious
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@ianR0ckwell She’s not assuming. The substantial number of racists on SW make it pretty plain.
Fernie · F
@luckranger71 thank you!
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@Fernie You’re welcome! 👍
MethDozer · M
No. Prejudice, but not explicatly racist in and of itself.
Contrary to current popular belief there is an important and big difference between prejudice and racism even if there is an overlap.
