Why ask Mike Pompeo about his stand on gay marriage, or abortion?

He's trying to get the job as Secretary of state, not in human resources.
Well, among the Secretary of State's duties is:

Provides information to American citizens regarding the political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian conditions in foreign countries.

His own opinions could very well prove relevant.
@GunSmoke9 It's why asking the question is relevant.

He could also talk about being tolerate, and not hate those who you disagree with.
He wouldn't be part of this administration if tolerance was his riding concern.

@bijouxbroussard Can't he also support our laws, while not believing in them?
@GunSmoke9 Would you be assuming he could, if he weren’t a Republican ?
Because politics is toxic. If you don't think like me on every issue you are not valid and should be dismissed.
@GunSmoke9

There used to be a large segment of the population who thought owning other human beings as property was a good idea. Should we have wanted leaders who upheld those values too?

@Pikachu Did you hear him saying anything about pushing those ideas?
@Pikachu It was perfectly normal for most of the world long ago. Now there are more slaves on earth than there has ever been. Of course we should not support anyone who would support slavery. Classic rhetorical move though!

Because the State Department is our interface with the rest of the world and is responsible for presenting our values to the rest of the world. This includes our views on abortion, gay marriage, etc.

Because the left is so dictatorial they believe if you disagree with them you don't deserve to work. What else could it be?
abe182 · 46-50, M
Because they want a gotcha answer incase he wants to run for anything in the future.

The guy will be representing us his beliefs are relevant.
