What is "Fake News" to you?

If anyone saw or read the text from Conservative Jeff Flake's total rebuke today of President Trump on the Senate floor, he talked about "fake news" and its power.

I'm curious about how people define "fake news."

After watching the news for the past few months, all I can gather is that "fake news" (which used to mean stories that were in fact made up and bore no correspondence to how things actually are, e.g. Russian propaganda on facebook) is something right-wingers say when they've been cornered and being dismissive is their only recourse.

Trump's version of fake news is meant to discredit his critics.

Aside from Trump, if you want my honest opinion it means any propaganda that is either outright false, or partial truths that become distorted to fit any agenda. Fake news can be anything from doctored photos and hoaxes spread by far right anti immigration groups to the distortion of real events.

It's whatever facts hurt Donald Trump's feelings.

It used to mean actually made up stories, but the meaning has changed.

I define it as people saying whichever stories don't align with their beliefs are false, whether they actually are or not.

Trump created the term. No meaning to it.

@Picklebobble2 Actually he co-opted the term and turned it in to something else. Something that is now being repeated by despots throughout the world.
Fake news is anything critical of Trump, of course. Doesn’t matter if the sources have previously reported negative things about the Democrats that were believed and quoted. If they say anything negative about Trump, now they’re lying. 🙄

I've never tried to define any of the political terms used by those in office; I'm simply a spectator.

almost all of the news networks
Ynotisay · M
@ConcealMySins So you're saying the stories they report on are made up?
@ConcealMySins So "fake news" means "news, but I reject reality." Got it.

@IvanKaramazov meh dont have enough time to watch the news anyways lol

Fake news is news that simply not true, or taken out of context. It’s pretty simple
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
I define "Fake News" like this:

"Fake News" are all news, which are negative for Trump.

Simple.
