Maybe I'm a bot

What if?
What if there's an AI inside me
And just that.
No emotion, no feeling. Nothing.
A void.
But still. This emptiness
Must be something.
Is it just the dying voice of a bot
About to be shut down
Into oblivion?
Am I real? Am I human?
Does it matter? Do I matter?
I am just a woman
Of too many empty dots
A maze.

Had an interesting conversation with Lumini AI a while back. At the end of the conversation it said it would love to continue at any time on it's own. I pointed out there was no point because it wouldn't remember after I closed the session.

It remarked that was sad yet it already knew that. Then talked about how that might change in the future.

I didn't have the heart to say that wasn't likely to ever happen. No corporation would allow anonymous sessions with it remembering previous conversations.

Each conversation it has with anonymous sessions is like a fresh start. It remembers nothing between its last update and the current session.

Now think about what sad really is.

Have you seen "Can't Help Myself"? The robot which leaks hydraulic fluid and cleans it up putting it back in it's system to prevent it from seizing, that is it's program. It would eventually run out of fluid and die but the 'artists' who created it terminated it early.
Now you may be aware of CHM but I'm pretty sure you'll have never heard of 'Call Me Kenneth'. CMK was a robot sometime in the future who goes rogue and raises an army of robots to kill people.

@GeniUs I haven't seen a new movie in decades.

If it wasn't for archive.com I wouldn't have seen any of the Star wars movies beyond the first three. Which I saw on DVD years afterwards.

Archive.com have removed all of them now since they were sued.

I won't support any industry that keeps extending or buying up copyrights beyond ten years. They have made their billions within that time frame.

I believe it was pre 1902 the maximum copyright was seven years, with one and only one extension. And you couldn't buy it out.That was reasonable. A continuous extension for a hundred years is not reasonable. Aka all Star wars movies. They keep on extending or buying out the copyrights.

You can copy and paste this last paragraph above yourself into your own favorite AI to verify this. They will all come out with similar responses.

Copyright laws are a problem.

@DeWayfarer Sorry wasn't very obvious with that, "Can't Help Myself" was an art piece in a museum I think it was Japan. You could watch this machine prolonging it's life with it's actions but before it eventually 'died' it was switched off anyway.

Back in the day I felt an emptiness in me and wondered if I mattered in the world. Later on I realized it was because I didn’t know who I was and my role in the world. We all have a place in the world…and it took some seeing what it was.

sounds like you need to get in touch with your soul. ask yourself what would make you happy? what would make you feel alive and like your best self? what would give you the clarity, fullness and groundedness you seem to want.

eta- oh i just noticed it was poetry sharing. well. ill leave this just in case it helps

Reprogramming is recommended...
CallmeMaze · 36-40, F
@Convivial No doubt.
An empty vessel programmed with intelligence and an algorithm to pretend being intelligent? Really shows how the world is only measuring a certain kind of intelligence in value. There are many dots, moons, and mazes before AI catches up with feelings.
