When was the last time you had a good old fashioned sherry trifle?

I made one recently, as I'd not had one for years. It was delicious. Making another one tomorrow.

2010 near as I can remember. I used to make them with lady fingers as sponge. I used to have a very large clear glass bowl shaped like an opening tulip, and it was gorgeous in that bowl.

I also used to make the chocolate ones, without sherry.

@4meAndyou I used lady finger sponges last week. But this time I bought a raspberry jam Swiss roll, which looks great in slices in the glass bowl. I don't think I've had a chocolate one....maybe next time.

@Raine I vaguely remember that the last one I had was not very good. I think it was made with Bird's custard instead of a proper egg custard. :-(

@cherokeepatti jelly, sponge cake, jam, custard, dessicated coconut, whipped cream and sherry. Or if you want an added extra, almond flakes.
