Not sure how to handle this

So Joel came home for cub Scouts very upset. The said they we're sitting in a group and talking about what makes each kid their different. The Den leader asked our youngest what made him and his brother different.

Our boy said he is taller than me.

Another child calls out and he has down syndrome and he's retarted and walks funny

The other kids laughed and the Den mother ok kids let's not make him feel bad because he's different. He was born this way and God loves him

Joel was so outraged he got both the boys and left.

I have never seen him so upset or mad. Our oldest boy is so embarrassed and went to his room. And tiny tornado is crying.

Joel wants to go back there and say something but I don't think we should handle that way.

I don't know how to fix this

I am so sorry this happened to them. I'm sure she had no idea that was going to happen. Hopefully this will never happen again and she had a talk with the kids and their parents. Are the boys going to quit Scouts?

@Musicman no I don't think so, our plan is to talk to the den leader and maybe have a educational chat with the group about people who have Downs syndrome. We are very lucky our boy is very high functioning. We just think if we show the kids some other people born like him at are successful it will help.

@Cigarguy I will definitely pray for a good outcome 🙏🙏🙏

@Musicman thank you so much. I really think that if we take a few minutes to teach these kids about our boy and others like him they will understand better.

@Cigarguy Yes they will. Education makes a lot of difference. They definitely didn't deserve to be treated like that.

@Musicman if they refuse to left us do this we will look for another troop or some kind of activity they can do once a week. We have heard that a group might be starting a t ball league for both normal and special needs kids in April. The league will only be for family with both children. We are looking into it as well since they both love baseball so much
