He was not having it today

So I took our oldest to his physical therapy appointment and boy he was not having it today when they put the afos on him he sat down closed his eyes put his thumb in his mouth and would not move. We tried everything we could think of to get him to stand up and walk but he wouldn't.

I did tell his therapist how he was doing good at home and wearing them a little longer every day. I also told him how our youngest boy was helping him and encouraging him to walk around the house.

The therapist finally took the afos off and we worked on some of his fine motor skills for the rest of the appointment.

I know how much he hates wearing those and it's hard to convince him that it's for his own good. Hopefully with time he'll get better.

@Ilovelily1986 why would I do that, he's scared and not comfortable around doctors and he's not used to it AFO'S yet. And he did fine with the OT part of the appointment.

@Cigarguy he is there for a reason and he refused to do what u and the doctor told him.

@Ilovelily1986 this is all new to him and he is very scared and unsure about what is going on. This will take time for him to get us to it. And he is walking with them at home so the PT was very pleased about that

@Ilovelily1986 This poor little kid is absolutely traumatized by earlier therapists and doctor's appointments. He shakes like a leaf!!!

PLEASE do not try to give my friend Cigarguy parenting advice that involves being even MORE mean and traumatizing toward this poor child!!!

Just to let you know...Cigarguy was ABUSED by his MONSTER of a mother and he will NEVER, EVER "discipline" a child in the way that you mean. His idea of "discipline" is talking, and teaching, and hugs, and LOVE.

I would NOT like to see any more of your "disciplinary" comments.

@4meAndyou allowing that kind of behavior is a bad idea. Like at school if the teacher tells him to do something and he doesn't want to do it all he has to do is close his eyes and cross his arms. What about the dentist none of us like going. so is he going to act like this with the dentist.
@Cigarguy probably @Ilovelily1986 is one of those weirdos with discipline fetishes.
@4meAndyou defintely he/she seems one of those weirdos.

@Lovebird u do know disciplining a child can mean time out or taking his electronics away for a hour not just spanking
Cigarguy · M
@Ilovelily1986 he did nothing wrong so why would I do anything like that. In fact I got him a donut and a chocolate milk after the appointment because he did well with the OT part of the appointment
Cigarguy · M
@Lovebird yes she always comments on my post like this. They are never kind
