Took our oldest boy for a checkup

This poor little guy was been though so much this past year. But he's tough and doing so well. Unfortunately the doctor wants to do check ups once a month. So I had to ta him today.

He's so afraid of doctors now. When the doctor and nurse came in the room he closed his eyes and graded on to me. When they asked him questions he would only shake his head yes or no. He wouldn't let go of me no matter what

The worst part is the blood work. They had to stick him twice before they got a vain to get blood. He tried to be brave but he was in tears by the time they were finished. It broke my heart. Now he's got a bruise on his arm. He didn't open his eyes until they left the room

I took him to get a chocolate milk and a donut from duck donuts when he has all done. I dropped him off with Star. She's taking her boys to Arcadia and Sissy is staying with Grandma.

She was her cello lessons tonight and we're making homemade pizzas.

Should be a nice night for a fire and s'mores too

If they want to stick him again, ask them to use a fine needle. It might take longer to get the blood out of him, but it should be less traumatic for him.

I always ask for a fine needle now. I'd rather spend that bit longer trying to get blood than feel like they stuck me with a scaffolding pole.

@HootyTheNightOwl I will remember that next time. I really hate seeing him so upset and scared. But chocolate milk and donuts fix everything.

At least we have a month before he goes back. When he first got out of the hospital they wanted blood weekly. That was horrible for him

ONE way to combat his fear of the doctor is to promise him his favorite treat every time he goes. THEN he might even look forward to the doctor's visit!

@4meAndyou we always do. It's just hard because he was to go so often and they take blood every time too. He's been though a lot

@Cigarguy Poor little kid.
S'mores are the perfect reward for a day like the one he had.
@Cigarguy Going to a donut shop and leaving with one of those makes for a great day.

@Cigarguy I'm glad to hear that.
