A few months ago, I made a new friend who has Down syndrome.

She's such a sweetheart. One time though, I stayed at her place a bit too late than usual. She blurted out "My place is so small, unorganized and dirty. Look at it!"

Trying to make her feel better, I said, "Oh, don't worry, my place is a mess too."

She instantly replied "Then go away to your home and clean it. Why are you leaving it messy and staying in mine late?"

I still laugh remembering how oblivious I was.

She showed up the next day to my home and decided one of the rooms as hers. I keep it locked for when she visits and wants to spend time.

She is also so brilliant. She does crochet way better than I do and is super good with animals.
There are beautiful and brilliant. I once was at a cafe and a guy with down syndrome came to shake my hand and as he was doing so he extended his arm down towards my hand understanding that I don't have the ability to raise my arm because of my illness without me saying anything. Mostly I have to explain that to ordinary people, not all people are that bright.

@PiecingBabyFaceTogether very true, they understand and remember some important things better than most. Two days ago she told my mother to stop talking about my uncle because it clearly upset me.

People with down syndrome are literally the best. They're always super genuine and really positive. I remember when I dragon braided my hair this guy was like "ohhhh myyyy gooooooooooooood!!!!!!!" 😂 He was the highlight of my new year

@Mordechai True, they are often so honest and forward and it helps because you have better understanding of their needs and wants to make them happy
lmao I love her already

Many are very smart, just lacking in social graces. They usually are honest to a fault, lacking the ability to lie to protect others' feelings.
