I have tried to have a colonoscopy four or five times. However, each time, I was unable to successfully complete the prep.
A couple times, I did actually make it into the procedure room, and they tried to do it, but as I had not successfully completed the prep, they were unable to continue.
The procedure itself is no big deal. They put me to sleep and did their thing, although they couldn't finish.
Trying to do the prep was bad only because the prep solution tastes not great — imagine Gator Aid without any fruit flavor — and of course it's messy. If you don't have a bidet or a bidet attachment on your toilet, I recommend getting one. Your bum hole with thank you.
But I wouldn't say it was painful at all, other than the pain to my dignity.

I know a few people who had one tho, and my advice is try to relax.
Easier said than done, I know, but the more relaxed you are, the easier it will be.
Worst case scenario: you can ask for anesthetics beforehand, but you'll need a chauffeour afterwards as they won't let you drive afterwards.

They dope you up pretty well, so it should not be painful at all.
I have had several by now. On one occasion, the drug wore off toward the end, and I felt some cramping, due to the fact that they inflate the colon with air in order to see things better. But that just lasted for a few minutes, and it was not too bad.

It's not painful. The meds they give you to empty your bowels isn't fun, but the procedure itself is painless and you're asleep.

Not at all. It's over without even knowing anything happened. Also the prep os now nothing compaired to what it was even 5-10 years ago. The prep used to be nightmarish but they changed the loads of pills and gallon of tje most foul liquid blend imaginable.
Honestly a teeth cleaning is less comfortable.
