When I was small, we kept chickens and dad bought a cockerel to try to breed some more. The new aquisition was so ferocious in his appetites he had to be separated and kept in a separate cage (the 50s were different times). He also had a very loud crow. I was at once terrified by him and fascinated by his beautiful feathering - remember I was small, so much nearer his level.

This picture took me back to all those memories. 🙂
