when i upgrade my computer, is this possible

[c=BF0000]i've heard it's possible, i still have a windows 7 computer and my idea was to upgrade and get windows 10 put on a different hard drive in this same computer, so i have dual operating systems? so i won't completely lose everything on my windows 7 computer?

does anyone know if this would be possible?[/c]

It's called dual-boot. You can have two operating systems on the same hard drive. I used to dual-boot Windows XP with Windows 2000 and things went well until somehow the MBR (Master Boot Record) got lost at startup and I lost the entire drive because the without the MBR, the system doesn't know where the operating systems are/begin.

You can try looking up on the internet how to dual-boot those two operating systems but I'd be careful. And make sure you keep all your data on a separate drive (separate, not partitioned).

Thanks for the bc and good luck. Tell me how it goes if you do decide to go for it.

Well you can dual boot different operating systems even on one HDD but two works as well. The only thing that might cause issues is if the Windows boot loader doesn't play nice.

I used to dual boot Windows and Linux and it worked fine but it uses a Linux bootloader in that case.

I don't see any reason it should not work unless MS messed with the bootloader to pressure people to abandon old versions of Windows.
