I read today that Margaret Hamilton has passed away.
Truly inspiring woman. She was one of the key software engineers who developed the Apollo mission software. She is acknowledged as almost single-handedly moving computer programming to software engineering.
I had the huge privilege to meet her once at a conference in the 1990s. She inspired me at that meeting to improve my grounding in software engineering and about a decade later I achieved my chartered status.
One of the great women of computer development alongside Ada Lovelace, Grace Hopper and Katherine Johnson in my humble opinion.
Intersting side note. Margaret Hamilton was also the name of the actress who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz.. AI am prepared to bet Witched Witch jokes followed her throughout her career , as they did another Maraget Hamilton I used to work with..😷
