Have you noticed that google isn't very good at anything other than their search engine?

They tried G+, and it failed, they tried Google play music, and it failed. Nobody watches movies using their streaming platform. When was the last time you knew of someone using Google books instead of Amazon or any other service? Almost every successful platform they own was purchased from someone else.

I think it's a good thing to reflect on that even one of the biggest companies in the world can fail and learn from it's mistakes.

It's not easy to just slip into a saturated market. How innovative can you be with a e-book platform?
Apple isn't very good at making phones. Their sales are so dismal they don't even release the the sales numbers to shareholders anymore. They're still around because they got in the game early and have an established following.
Imagine if apple showed up new to the market today with an overpriced underperforming device that doesn't play well with others. How successful do you think they'd be?

It just means you don't know how Google works, as a company, not as a search engine

Check their investments in detail and read every fine print. There will be a few "investors" names that pop out.
