Can you use a cloud service?
I back up some PC stuff onto my Google account. I just use Chrome.
I also was able to load stuff from my work computer to my Google account, then load to my home computer, all using Chrome.
It was also nice because I can now see it all on my Pixel phone, too, which is linked to it.
But they only give me 15 GB for free. I have more photos and videos than that on my PC, so I back them up on a flash drive. Yet my new phone has a lot of space. My old phone had less so periodically I had to move stuff from my phone to my PC which has a TB.
I also have 15 GB for free on my Microsoft account for One Drive. Yet I would not know how to access that from a new computer. My hope is the MS would have an easy way.

I think an external drive might have more speed but don't take my word,Google /youtube is pretty good with these things

enable "file and printer sharing" then copy paste over the network. you can also pull the HDD out of the old computer and usb attach to the new one

You can try Send Anywhere. Just know that the transfer speed is at the mercy of your ISPs upload speed.
