Advice Please from MacBook Owners

My MacBook Air is running Sequoia 15.7.3 very happily. I keep being prompted to download Tahoe 26.2. Does anyone have any experience of, or advice on, making this transition? I'm am always worried about changing the OS that was installed initially.

I like tahoe pretty well. it does require more than a little digging in to find if the programs you use often will be able to run under the new OS.

if you don't run anything specialized (like ... video or image editing software or something very specific and only us the browsers/normaltools, I'd do the upgrade. I think you'll be able to revert back to sequoia if you find you need to.
,but that'd be something to look into as well. make sure you have a good timemachine vault and backups near to hand.

@dirge Thank you. That's really helpful. I lost my favourite video editing tools when I moved from an MS OS many years ago. I have been using browser tools ever since.

if you are happy with what you have dont change.. and if you do read and i do mean read the end user agreement.. you could be signing in to what you do not want by a back door ..

@markinkansas Thanks. I was literally logging off to go for it...I will look at what you point to. However, I suspect I have agreed to so many contracts with IT companies I have probably already agreed to be a sex slave in several countries!

Seriously, I appreciate your cautious advice.

@FreddieUK ok let us know how it goes.. you might not have a choice but to change. best to ya . at least you will know if you are a sex slave or not.. grin

@markinkansas Well, the deed is done and no harm so far. The only difference I can see is a slight change to the icons. I have been offered options over certain notifications, but I have no idea what the 'explanation' means so haven't ticked it.

I chose the 'General Slave' box on the contract rather than 'Sex Slave' to keep my options open when the IT moguls finally rule the world. However, as we know, these days Law and Contracts mean nothing if you have Power, Might and a Massive Ego.

I have a MacBook Air and I have Tahoe 26.2 running. I have had no adverse issues (so far).

@aginggracefully Thank you.

If you're not running this as a software development machine, you shoulld be fine accepting the defaults.

@Northwest Good to know. I'm finding the feedback helpful. I may well upgrade later today on the strength of the comments so far. Normally it's the negative opinions that delivered first, so perhaps there aren't (m)any downsides for the 'ordinary' user.
