is using the program ccleaner dangerous for your computer

i want to download ccleaner to see if it makes my computer run faster, but i don't want to accidently erase anything important on my computer.....if i download the free version and run the cleaner, will it be safe enough?

It's a crap cleaner temp file cleaner it won't make the computer faster. What are your symptoms let's start there.
