Mergers, upon mergers, upon mergers. Not much has the same name, except a few, that few even know about.
Sears only shorten the name of their stores. Yet not their corporate name. It's still Sears and Roebuck corp. One of the few that are still around.
FYI Denny's restaurant once own Winchell's donuts then was marketed and partnered with other companies over and over again.
Few even know that Winchell's even still exist. Down to 160 stores world wide now. They once had more than four times that.

@FurryFace lots and lots of businesses closed down for good during the pandemic here. It's sad seeing it everywhere. Even in multiple cities, both small and large.
There's one restaurant here that with a sign on the door says: closed for remodeling for one month. I have been here for that month and no signs of activity at all. I have no idea just how long it has been close.
