Anyone that knows about computers think this is a good price for a used one?

Guy selling one used, it's not high spec or anything laptop is . 4GB ram, 500 GB hard drive, Windows 10 installed, originally OS was Windows 7. Intel Pentium processor with a clock speed of 2.0. 15, 6 hd screen, with a 2 hour battery life when unplugged. Selling for 200 euros? It seems a bit over priced or do you think it's fair?
overpriced.. got a microsoft tablet for a better price than that.. and it solid.
[image deleted]mine is windows ten and you add a sd card to it for more storage.. i can also play movies from the tablet to the tv using a link cable.. it last 10 hours on a charge. check them out
i was pleased.mark

The Ram is low and the machine is dated. Newer computers have a SSD instead of a hard drive and 8GB ram at a minimum. I would pass

Glad you blocked, as I was about to block you also. You clearly were just replying with nonsense
@TexChik are you a gamer or cryptominer with that much processing power yo 😂
What are the different screens for as well? 👀
What processor do you deploy? Just curious. And are you using 4 TB storage standard?

@thunderdome28 the issue was whether the machine was worth the price... And most would agree to a resounding NO. Ps we are all elated that you are happy with your 2GB RAM machine! Cheers!
Personally I wouldn't get it - I'm sure you can get better - it will be a bit on the slow side - the amount of memory is basically minimum that windows can run in - depending on what you want to use it for it could be too little so as to make it unusable . The disk is almost certainly mechanical which is old tech these days - SSD has been pretty much standard for a while. The CPU is probably quite old too - since the machine had Win7 on it - you will probably find that it won't take Windows 11 as that needs more modern CPUs.

That crap he's selling is more ancient than dinosaurs. In fact, dinosaurs have more computing power than what he's selling. Forget it.
No that is overpriced for what it is. If it originally had 7 then 10 is probably going to be super laggy on it. That and having a HDD is going to be even slower. Just open a browser will take a big chunk of that ram anymore plus running windows 10 on top of that it's going to trash the HDD with a page file and the whole thing is going to seem like cold syrup .

@canusernamebemyusername The guy selling it said he wiped the hard drive, fresh install of windows 10 and that it runs like a new machine. He claims the price at 200 is fair, I think it's about 50 euros over priced given the original OS being 7. His answer to that was it cost about 1000 euros when it came out and it's HP which is a top brand

If you are sticking with the outdated OS and use it only for browsing and email, etc., then this would do except for one thing... the battery life. If it's 2 hours then that means the battery is nearing end of life and you'll very soon need to have it plugged in all the time. No way I'd pay that price for something with essentially a dead battery.
Elessar · 26-30, M
I'd tell them you can actually buy a washing machine with more computational power than that for less and see if they lower the price lol
thunderdome28 · 41-45, M
@Elessar Well it's not that slow just seems over priced, laptop looks in good condition, but it's gotta be old if the original OS on it was windows 7?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@thunderdome28 4GB of RAM, it'll hang as soon as you open 2 browser tabs lol
thunderdome28 · 41-45, M
@Elessar It's 4GB not 1GB lol. I've used ones with less ram that can handle a few browser tabs.

I know it's not high spec, I wouldn't be using lots of programs on it or lots of browser tabs .
TrumpIsFinallyGone · 41-45, M
I would pass. Used electronics is always a gamble. But that aside I still think that's overpriced for the specs. That's going to be a slow laptop. Support for Windows 10 is going to end in three years and that's low ram. Most laptops now have a solid state drive.
You can buy an iPad at Walmart for 299. Unless you need a laptop. I get by without one.

@Spoiledbrat Oh I'm not really into tablets
Fair enough @thunderdome28

I like to get cheap computers and put linux on them. 200 is ok price but 150 would be better. Maybe when it does not sell he will reconsider.
Seems a bit overpriced for its performance
empanadas · 31-35, M
The ram is pretty bad tbh. For about 60 dollars more, you can probably buy one with 8gb ram and a 500 gb hard drive. I'm not sure how computers are priced in the EU though
thunderdome28 · 41-45, M
@empanadas not sure what 60 dollars is in euros but most computers 8gb ram or more would be at least 200 euros used when being sold. and about 400 euros new
empanadas · 31-35, M
@thunderdome28 yeah sounds like it's more expansive over there. Over here you can get a new 6 to 8 gb rams with 500 hd for about 260 to 400. However looks like you answered your own question. It's too much for a 4 gb ram used.
thunderdome28 · 41-45, M
well it depends on who is selling , most that spec are for sale at around 150 used. This person selling though claims he put some work into it, new RAM, new Hard drive, new fan. so that warrants the price to him.
