New Virus?

Does anyone here know anything about a new (?) virus that, apparently, is undetectable by most commercial anti-virus software? From what I've heard it attaches itself to .docx attachments to emails. I use Linux so it hasn't affected me but I have had emails from quite reputable companies with .docx attachments that, according to them, have been scanned by anti-virus software but do not render properly when opened. It's very worrying if it can't be detected by commercial anti-virus software.

That is very alarming if accurate, but I wonder if most anti-virus software has to be written by reaction, once the malicious code has been released so can be spotted and analysed.

@ArishMell Good point. I sometimes wonder if the anti-virus software writers create the viruses their software is designed to detect though..

@rob19 I seen a video where a script was written to delete the system32 folder on Windows, using a .bat file. So really if someone wanted to cause harm like that, it's just a matter of putting a file like that into a legit file, and then script it when the good file is ran it would run this other .bat file.

Many years ago I was using .Fli and .vox files. So I had something written when you would exit a game inside of this bat file it would run the .fli and the .vox file.

The .fli file was the animation, and the .vox file was the sound for the animation. So I had a bunch of games when you would exit them it would play this dinosaur fli animation with a roaring sound, and I wasn't home one day and my girlfriend at the time played one of the games and then encountered my animation file she was mad. And then I completely forgot about it months later and got scared myself and she laughed at me it was pretty funny.

I don't want to go through the hassle of quarantining, masking up and getting another vacci -- What?! it's not THAT kind of virus?! Phew! for a moment, you had me worried.
