Do you prefer a 'smart' phone or a 'non-smart' (aka 'dumb' or 'feature' phone)?
My current smart phone (Sonim xp8 running Android 10) is 7 yrs old and due for replacement. I'm not getting a new smartphone instead I'm getting a 'Nokia' aka HMD model 110 'feature' phone. No smarts at all. Just phone, simple camera, and messaging. Removable battery (so if I want to totally disable it I can).
I do have another 'smart' phone though. I have two sim's and decided to get a very cheap rugged one to put the second sim in a seperate device . I got an Aspera R10 which runs Android 13.
This is *not* for the sim I normally use for all my personal and work-related communications. It's got an active telco pre-paid service but is only a backup.
I don't have a work-supplied smartphone. My work tried to make me accept an Apple iphone 14 several yrs ago. I said no thanks. I do not want to be connected to work 24/7 and be tracked/monitored.
I do have an Android tablet (galaxy tab s4) but it cannot be used for phone calls and messages, and normally it doesn't leave home. It runs Android 10 and can't be upgraded.
I've had plenty of 'feature' phones and a few different smartphones. For all the benefits that a smart phone gives (basically being a full portable pc) those benefits also seem to be what cause the most grief. Especially with constant app updates being required, apps going out of support, nearly all apps now including ads and/or paid features. No thanks.
In 1997 I bought a Nokia 5500 sport 2g phone new. It worked right up to the end of 2g in Australia in 2016 and never needed any updates.
